Yes for reasons best known to himself Hoyle appears to be taking sides. Memories of Bercow. I see the Clerk of the House of Commons has written a letter of protest to the speaker, which he has published. And how about this bombshell revelation - It has been alleged that Starmer told Hoyle that under a Labour government he would remain as speaker, if he allowed this amendment.Yes just like they promised Sue Gray a job as chief of staff if she made sure Johnson was stitched up like a kipper, Labour have become a law unto themselves.

Trying to take a break from this forum, but wondered what you would all make of this nonsense. If ever there was an example of why the current adversarial political system fails the country this is it. At a time when the country faces grave issues warranting serious sober thought from those we elect to represent us, our politicians have taken the opportunity to instead play inane party political games on a motion on world affairs that they cannot influence and in respect of which it makes no difference whatsoever what they agree. Shame on them all.
Meanwhile the tabloids and the conspiracy theorists think up ever more improbable outrage angles on this ridiculous non-story. Shame on them too.

Hoyle seems to have acted disgracefully , and without precedent im reading. Even Joanna cherry , normally very eloquent , and diplomatic , appears to be very angered by Hoyles break with the norm. As I said red , behind the scenes , you do wonder if strings are being pulled to make sure starmer takes power In the next election. I know its conspiracy theory territory , but with the tories trying everything to lose the next election , snp implosion , most of it self inflicted needlessly , and now events like this , they seem to be desperate to clear the field for starmer to score ...somehow....anyhow........except he keeps falling over his shoelaces. What is going on ? Yes for reasons best known to himself Hoyle appears to be taking sides. Memories of Bercow. I see the Clerk of the House of Commons has written a letter of protest to the speaker, which he has published. And how about this bombshell revelation - It has been alleged that Starmer told Hoyle that under a Labour government he would remain as speaker, if he allowed this amendment. As I said red , many times beforehand, starmer , if he takes power the way he is going , is going to set this country on fire . Being seen to have the speaker in his pocket , the way he brought Johnson and Corbyn down behind the scenes , sue gray debacle , and repeatedly stabbing Corbyn in the back , to telling folk he won't rejoin the EU when we all know he wants BRINO. Sometimes , it's not just about achieving power , it's the way you do it that matters , and starmer is leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouths. I honestly think we are heading for riots on the streets at this rate.

This isnt smart politicking. If it was , people may disagree , but also applaud . This is gutter behaviour , and it will have repercussions. Starmer is making enemies out of left and right , and eventually I think , its going to catch up with him and overwhelm him.

The bottom line here is that Palestine and the current conflict is not near the top of the list of most important issues as far as the British public are concerned.
The Economy, the NHS, Immigration, The Environment and Housing are the top 5 issues
Though many people in this country are appaled at what is happening in Gaza, whatever the outcome of todays proceedings in the House of Commons, it wont alter the opinion polls.
I personaly am annoyed that the SNP, Labour and Lib Dems could not have come to some kind of mutual agreement

Nicholas Watt @nicholaswatt · 18m Senior Labour figures tell me @commonsspeaker was left in no doubt that Labour would bring him down after the general election unless he called Labour’s Gaza amendment

twitosphere in absolute meltdown , as Hoyle defies convention , and runs to starmers rescue. Labour may save face today , but long term , hopefully it further damages them in the eyes of the public. Beggars belief that Labour are forever demanding resignations and inquiries in to every thing the Tories do, yet the lefties have a free hand and unchallenged to do and say almost anything they want to, the double standard hypocrisy is rank. The shape of corruption to come.

It's not conspiracy theories, it's the tabloids exposing how corrupt the lefties are, the only reason you've surfaced is to try to defend them.

Because these are the three major "Progressive" political parties and could have come to a mutual understanding eh? Labour have no qualms about working hand in hand with the conservatives in Scottish councils , so spare me the progressive nonsense please. On top of that , while im not sure about the liberals , the snp and labour leadership have been miles apart on the issue for months.

It's becoming clearer and clearer that Labour are already in charge of the country, they've got more clout than the serving Tory government, never have I witnessed a opposition party being in charge of the country, politics and democracy is nonexistent.
