Foreign dentists are set to be allowed to work in the UK without taking a qualification exam. Ministers are planning to scrap the overseas entrance exam currently required to allow dentists from non-European countries to work in Britain. Currently dentists who qualify outside of the European Economic Area are required to take an exam set by Britain's dental regulator, the General Dental Council (GDC). www.gbnews.com/health/dental-crisis-foreign-dentists-allowed-work-uk-without-examThis is just another case of lowering standards to increase the catch. It's the dental version of diversity.

A lot of people go to Eastern Europe for dentistry anyway, so what's the difference?

Yep, Nigeria will be busy faking documents, I think about £200 is the going rate, and Ali Ahmed will be pulling your molars out, and the NHS A&E will be inundated with mouth/teeth casualties.

They even nickname them 'Turkey teeth', most of them are a disaster, and the NHS has to foot the bill to put it right.

LOL... actually I don't know why I'm laughing. It sounds too stupid to be true, but will in all likelihood become reality.

"This is done in an effort to solve the dental crisis in the UK, as four in five NHS dental surgeries are currently not accepting new patients."
How are they going to force these new dentists to take NHS patients?

Is it any wonder they don't want any more NHS patients, they are getting paid far too much for the ones they already have..
How is NHS dentistry funding? The money from patient charges is collected by dental practices but is passed to the NHS and in 2021/2022 amounted to £633 million. Some patients are exempt from dental charges including children, pregnant women and new mothers, and those receiving certain low-income benefits.

My mates wife went to the polish doctor to see what the spot was between her tits. She came back mortified when told it was her belly button.

Importing people with no recognised qualifications to perform surgery on British people is a crazy idea. They claim they will be supervised, but by who? Obviously not by qualified British dentists. I can see this leading to a lot of malpractice suits, which will cost the NHS. Still, I am sure the usual crazies will be insisting on more immigration.

I thought the NHS teaching relied on "See one, do one, teach one".

I went to a dentist when I was about 1970 ( I hadn’t gone for a while ) he was a big Irish bloke who smelt of booze . He told me I needed a tooth out , stuck a big needle into my jaw bone , then again in my gums and wrenched the tooth out. He muttered something about “ the inspector went find fault in that “. I left with a mouthful of blood . I spat it out in the local public toilet before I got the bus home. I looked like I had been beaten up . Thing is , that wasn’t unusual. People didn’t go to dentists because every time they did, they had a painful filling or an extraction. Five or so years on dentists seem to change . They were more into prevention than extraction and 20 years after that they never took a tooth out if they could help it. Now dentistry is an highly technical art. Welcome back to 1970.
