Sub heading: Well done left wing Lineker, lol. The impartiality of the BBC is still an issue for audiences, the Government has warned, as ministers prepare to hand new powers to Ofcom to regulate the broadcaster's online news coverage. In a bid to tackle concerns about perceived bias at the corporation, the Government is to push ahead with major reforms to improve 'audience confidence' in the broadcaster's objectivity and complaints system. Under the first mid-term review of the BBC, to be unveiled today, ministers will extend Ofcom's oversight to cover parts of the corporation's online services, including the BBC News website.Ministers will also assess the BBC's social media guidelines in the next charter review process, which is likely to start next year. It follows a string of impartiality controversies about the corporation's highest paid star Gary Lineker and his political tweets - link

One Radio 4 they went further and went on for ages about how it was a parallel to the Windrush scandal.

You are quite obviously correct. The BBC never miss an opportunity to bash Britain while supporting any anti British minority cause. Little wonder Ofcom are clamping down on BBC bias, but I do wonder, will it really make a difference? I tend to think not.

I look forward to it. I must see if i can find the equivalent of their css template again....

I just wonder if the furore about Lineker is not so much that he works for the BBC but more for his stance on social justice?

Lineker can believe the earth is flat and Ghengis Khan was a rabid socialist for all i care, and what is more i quite firmly believe the overwhelming majority of those present in this country prior to Blair’s deliberate destruction of its identity, and their subsequent offspring would defend with force if necessary his right to THINK that What none of us will defend however is his blatant abuse of his position as a highly paid blatherer of bollox on the ability or lack of it of various kickers of pigs bladders to mouth off in regard to his political views many of us find abhorrent and his failure to put his own resources into solutions to the problem a hypocrisy too far

Well the Let-them-drown-in-the-channel, Regain-our-sovereignty, Anti-EU, etc, brigades don't like their prejudices being exposed — so if it's done by someone well-known with a platform they feel uneasy and begin to squeal...

You must realise that any personality — well-known for any activity — is a screwball Lefty if ever they knock the views held by audiences of GBNews/Daily Mail/Telegraph, wherever they do it...

If he chose to resign his well paid BBC position i would have no problem. I said i had no problem with him HOLDING those views. If he were exposed as a member of the flat earth society, or perhaps were he NOT to have mouthed off in support mof illegal immigrants so no one was aware of his support of them, and it were tgen revealed he had made donations to their lawyers fund out of his BBC money i would be fighting his corner You seem to have a problem with my stance that an organisation required to be impartial ought to demand public silence on matters of contention from those it pays.

Does that also apply to GBNews were 'politicians' comment on other party's policies whilst presenting their news shows? Does that also apply to the likes of David Attenborough. Lineker's money is his own and he has the 'freedom' to use it as he wants. He does not make political comments whilst he is earning his money.
