Yes this puzzled me. In past years, if a parent was unable to look after the health and welfare of their child that child was taken into care - now Labour are proposing that it is an issue for the school to sort out... Personally I'd rather the Schools stick to Education and Social Services stick to child welfare Well of course to the detriment of the family unit, times have changed. As an infant, 5 or 6 probably, I remember someone coming into the classroom and showing us how to brush our teeth, this would be... 1965 ish. [Labour government lol] I distinctly remember her going through the motions of brushing her teeth as we mimicked her, she gave everyone a toothbrush and left. She was dressed like a nurse so we assumed she was a nurse. This wasn't in some impoverished inner city slum btw, this was in a very rural area, OK not wealthy but certainly not impoverished. This sort of thing was normal for the time. Anyhoo, it wasn't a big deal. Mum used to sit on the edge of the bath and show us how to brush our teeth. She did this because it's what mothers do, or used to do. Another thing was the 'nit nurse'. I remember at school, again at infant school, the nit nurse inspecting our heads for nits. I listened to a political commentator today who said the nit nurse was banned because 'young people' [5 and 6 year olds] found it embarrassing. And this is the problem, we allow stupid left wing touchy feely people to dictate policy. You missed out the 'Nurse' who used to tell you to drop your pants then asked you to cough. Such fun back then

and if anyone expects the NHS to improve under Labour - Labour have run the NHS in Wales for the past 25 years.. Back in 1997 New Labour inherited very poor recovery rates from Cancer and Cardiac problems. I'm sure you recall the incidence where Blair was attacked by a (Tory Voter) for the state of a cancer ward (inherited after 18 years of Tory government) while attending the opening of a new Cardiac Center. "Equal to anything in Europe". It seems that the NHS always suffer under Tory governments.

"Equal to anything in Europe". It seems that the NHS always suffer under Tory governments. The NHS in Wales is suffering under a Labour Government - why have you no concern for the people of Wales suffering such trauma? It is badly suffering under a labour government , as it has for the whole of devolution. The guy at wings over Scotland has spent years mocking labour with the mess they have the welsh nhs in , by doing comparisons with the devolved governance of the Scottish and welsh nhs services , and it truly is appalling the state labour have Wales in. Labour have run the Welsh Government ever since devolution 20 years ago – despite being proportionally elected, the current administration has 12 Labour ministers and deputies out of 14 – and without exception the Assembly in Cardiff has delivered worse (often spectacularly worse) results than its SNP-run counterpart since 2007.

The number of non-clinical cancellations in Wales over the last two years is 75,000 – almost FIVE TIMES as many as Scotland despite a far smaller population. Per capita it’s more than EIGHT TIMES worse.
Scottish Labour – assisted as always by a relentless stream of doom-and-gloom stories in the Scottish media – love to draw attention to every tiny hiccup in Scotland’s public services, implying that if only we’d hand things over to them rather than the vile SNP they’d magically get better.
The evidence of Labour’s competence levels in the one UK nation where it IS in control suggests that the reality isn’t just the opposite of that, but the opposite on a truly gargantuan scale.
For so long as Welsh Labour exist, they’ll be a constant source of embarrassment to their Scottish cousins, and to anyone gullible enough to take their claims seriously.

This is the scale of the inadequacies of the NHS, and is a warning. My partner is very ill, now she cant walk, she has had two deep brain benign tumours removed, when we moved to cambs from brum we saw a nerologist at Addenbrookes who immediately discharged her, this was 2015, she had a shunt put in in 1997. A junior doctor asked the consultant, what about the shunt?, he dismissed it.
There have been ongoing problems, admissions to hospital and A and E, a gradual deteriration. In July 2023 she was in hospital and had her shunt replaced, no other info was given. Because of a foul up with medication i saw a letter that stated that she had been suffering acute hydrocephalus, and obviously before then over time.
This world reknown hospital has destroyed our lives. Despite a million oppurtunites to find the cause of her problems they failed, despite the clue being in front of them, her history, her shunt was blocked.
For gods sake. We should be in the south of France etc, but no. Shameful. It will be the same for you.
