Grant Shapps has been tipped to retire two [Royal Marines] assault ships as the UK’s sailor shortage threatens to plunge the armed forces into crisis. The proposal put forward by the defence secretary aims to retire both HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark from active service. Critics have blasted the move as “the beginning of the end for the Royal Marines”. A source familiar with the plans told The Times that it would weaken one of the force's central purposes, namely, storming beaches from the sea. MoD figures have revealed the navy is the worst-performing of Britain’s armed forces for recruitment, having just 29,000 full-time recruits. A few days ago Sunak was talking about sending British war ships to the gulf to protect international shipping, I think he had better check to see whether we have any left. Perhaps recruitment may not be in crisis if the navy weren't prioritising black transgender recruits. And lets not forget, this is under a Tory government! God help us when Labour are in power. |

LBQT (whatever that bloody acronym is) people account for a tiny minority of people in this country, yet thanks to diversity quotas they are prioritised over the vast majority. Who would have thought such a stupid and it must be said 'woke' policy, would create recruitment problems across the armed forces. |

Perhaps we should reintroduce the press gangs, they could make a start down in Weymouth, there are a few hundred young lads with useful sea time on the Bibby Stockholm that could be signed up to chip off barnacles and take turn in the barrel.
The Navy has always been a very popular career for shirt lifters, they should advertise it more.
