Could you give me three practical examples of what you think being woke is. I am interested to know whether I am or not? Well take the dictionary definition "alert to injustice and discrimination in society, especially racism:" However that begs the question as to whether what a woke person is defining as injustice and discrimination in society especially racism is in fact those things. So to the woke person himself he is virtuous and certain in himself he is being righteous by taking any action he does and is proud of being 'woke'. Too often to the rest of us his actions seem petty, unjustified, poorly judged, mostly idiotic, lacking in common sense and an imposition for no good reason on the rest of us. So in the eyes of those who use woke as a critical word being woke is stupid, but dangerous. Examples I have given before. NHS referring to a person with a cervix instead of a woman. It is woke becasue it is considering the feelings of a small proportion of people and pandering to their supposed sensitivities and is trying to reinvent language that has stood the test of time for generations. It is also felt to be an idiotic approach to the needs of society. A person who 'identifies' as a woman will know whether or not he needs a smear test will be well aware of what woman means in the context of the request to attend and if he does not then certainly mental health issues will be discovered should he attend for the smear test. Woke is creating problems that realistically do not exist. I asked you for three examples. You only gave me one - the tired old "what is a woman" question - to which my answer would be it depends on the context. The rest of your paragraph on that subject is nonsensical. Could you give me the other two requested examples please. I am intrigued to know whether I qualify as woke, and if so whether I can be "virtuous and certain...."

You seem to be unaware that you can also find definitions of 'injustice' and 'discrimination' in the dictionary You can also get this definition too dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/blow-out-of-proportionWhich is what you are doing with your 'one turd makes a sewer' line. Just because a very few 'woke' people take a silly line does not mean you can assume all such do.

I don’t see as much whining from the “grown ups “( which should be the new description for people with more conservative political views ) about the use of the word “ Gammon “ describing white ( alleged) right wingers as I do for Lefties becoming triggered by others not conforming to their demands that ‘ woke’ should mean whatever their dictionary says it does.

Maybe that's because you don't see media misusing the term like the Mail/Express/TeleTory and assorted swivel eyed right wing figures do with Woke But if you could look at the old forum you would have seen some offended by it

Maybe you don’t see the mail/ Express use a perfectly good term to describe swivel eyed lefties?

You asked, you did not demand and you did not say please. However Affirmative Action is woke, cancel culture is woke in terms of the perspective of those who are woke. In my view Affirmative action is a racially discriminatory and does not correct injustice it actually creates injustice, cancel culture is an inability to engage in any form of debate. So being 'woke' is pretty much a sorry state of affairs in my view.

Just no point arguing with someone that won't accept the English language as a basis for debate When you find an 18 page thread on this or the last forum dedicated to the definition of “ gammon “… with triggered “ grown ups” ( see my definition) whining that “ Gammon “ can only mean “ham that has been cured or smoked like bacon.” and any other meaning can only be from swivel eyed leftie liars then let me know .

Indeed you do get definitions of all sorts of things however there are many things I regard as right and just that you would disagree with so notwithstanding definitions much depends on the viewpoint. The problem of course is it is not a very few taking a silly standpoint, the country is rife with idiocy and those SJWs fighting fights that to many appear largely of no consequence.

So all you are doing is repeating the same idiot line you used earlier in the thread which was roundly refuted and shown up for what it is. A sad nasty way to attack anyone that sticks up for minorities.

A sad nasty way to attack anyone that sticks up for minorities. Nope. You keep repeating the same false claim that language is set in stone and only words from a dictionary have valid meanings . What possibly hadn’t occurred between your ears is the obvious fact that the word ‘ woke ‘ didn’t have the strict dictionary definition that it has now ..at one point . Dictionaries are always behind the curve ..that is how colloquialisms become formal words . It doesn’t matter how much you pretend otherwise .

So could you give some examples of what you think it means now?
Is it simply any centre-left, socially liberal views or does it have a different meaning in your view.
It doesnt really matter but I am intrigued whether I am "woke"!
