BBC's Israel-hating Eurovision contestant will be allowed to continue to express divisive political opinions despite causing outrage over his views on Israel. Some scruffy chav named Olly Alexander, who apparently is a 'celebrity', found himself under fire earlier this week after it emerged he had signed a letter calling Israel an “apartheid regime” and condemning “Zionist propaganda”. Which according to the state broadcaster is perfectly acceptable. There have been protests in America by Jews, including Rabbis, who described the State of Israel as an "Apartheid Regime." The Anti-Defamation League responded by saying that just because a person or organisation is Jewish doesn't mean that they can't be antisemitic

The letter which Olly Alexander signed, along with 1400 other people, contained this statement .... We strongly reject the argument that holding a pro-Palestine or anti-Zionist stance in any way promotes antisemitism. We stand against any and all harassment and discrimination against Jewish communities.
THAT should be the end of the discussion, but I bet it wont be

Olly Alexander has not made any comment or statement which can be interpreted as been Anti Semitic, racist or anti Jewish.

Criticising Jews IS Anti Semitic, criticising Israel or the Israeli government IS NOT Anti Semitic, because it is NOT criticising a particular race, faith, ethnicity or nationality.

I have repeatedly called the actions of Hamas on the 7th October as despicable, unacceptable, the actions of murderous cowards and terrorists. What Hamas did on the 7th October DOES NOT warrant what the cowardly Israeli Defence Force has done in Gaza, it cannot be justified. My views on this conflict are not one sided, unlike yours. |
