I've made radios before. All radios are are devices to send or receive modulated electromagnetism.
They're quite straightforward to build, and providing they're not broadcasting, quite legal without a licence.
A radio broadcast from extraterrestrials would count as evidence.
So, on what frequency, and by what modulation method, would I find an extraterrestrial radio broadcast?

How is Dubs going to paste a radio broadcast in the forum?

Plans for the receiving of broadcasts which we can test with receivers of our own.

Radio waves have a direction of travel, if you know what you're doing, you can get directional information. Identification of point of origin is possible.

Okay, so it's good you know what you are doing.
The word on the street is that you should point your radio telescope at Ross 128 b and listen near, but not on, the hydrogen line. However, it's possible that this claimed transmission no longer exists.

What frequency and what modulation? The hydrogen line. 21 centimeter - but not directly on it. As for modulation, i think you getting a bit ahead of yourself. This isn't radio 4, it's just a 'mechanically' repeating signal. If H1 doesn't work try some of the others Let us know how you get on.

Ok, at or around 1420.4 MHz.
That's something I can look into.
If you want to encode information on a radio signal, you have to modulate, either with amplitude, or frequency. You have a carrier wave and onto that you place information.
Basic information like audio, that would be a doddle for anyone to receive and start to study. IF the broadcasts are out there.

Try 100% amplitude modulation otherwise known as 'old style morse code'.
We will wait while Vinny lines up his radio telescope with Ross 128

I've noticed that as we learn more about the universe, and the absurd distances that civilisations would have to cross to meet each other, the Aliens have started to evolve into time-travelling humans or angels and demons.
That and the fact that the universe is expanding at an increasing rate... so if you travelled somewhere, you might not be able to get back lol.
Likewise, traveling backwards in time is bollocks too, it would be impossible to pinpoint where you would be travelling too because everything is moving and expanding.

Likely there are other inhabited worlds, some of which even have beings on them comparable to us in linguistic or technological skills. But the distances are absurdly vast. It's extremely unlikely the huge obstacles would ever be overcome.
Besides, if you hit a micrometeorite whilst you travel at > 300,000 kilometres per second, there is no armour that could withstand the impact. Your ship would be destroyed.
And space is full of little hazards like that. Even the impact of a speck of dust at that speed, would be enough to destroy your ship.
Force equals mass x accelleration. The greater the speed of impact, the greater the damage it would do.

There's a Sci-fi short story in which aliens make contact ... saying that they've crash-landed and are in need of help. When their location is searched nothing can be found. As one of the searchers is walking around he treads on the spaceship.

I’m struggling to see why some here are dismissive of Youtube as a platform for education? Many people study University level Courses on Youtube … and many top scientists are now on board pushing their pioneering work on the platform. To get fed decent material by Youtube’s algorithms … use a computer with working audio … surf quality content. The world is full of critics who destroy things … open minded people try and rise above destructive behaviour. Avoid my threads if you can’t process Youtube videos without having an aneurism.🤔 ************ See Orac’s video Quantum … Media Professor Simon Holland claims talking to one of the senior men at the SETI Institute … in 2019 they made direct communications on the H2 waveband with a civilisation 11 light years away … probably using a process called Quantum Tunnelling. …. As people here know … Quantum Physics has many elements that seem ‘science fiction’ … but in our rapidly accelerating World with Disclosures happening daily … fiction is turning into FACT overnight … so watch this Forum for the latest drops.… and if you see something interesting … drop it on this platform. *********** Here is an interesting possible explanation for a famous Scottish UFO sighting from 1990 … from Investigator Professor Simon Holland. … who was a producer for Horizon during his Media career. … and good at sniffing out mysterious puzzles .. providing rational explanations. … here is one for a photo I dropped on the other alien thread. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/investigator-says-solved-uks-biggest-29387989Sadly the paper that covered this was the Daily Record … but the content of the piece is factual … and throws up an interesting fact that Black Ops advanced stealth triangular craft were flying daytime testing missions over Scotland in 1990. … Wow! Genuine pic, genuine craft … highly advanced, reverse engineered UFO, likely Skunk Works black ops technology … that will remain classified until 2076.
