That's very interesting. What do you think the effect of the Supreme Court's finding will be the next time an injunction is sought to stop the planes. I mean, an injunction was issued last year even without the SC's finding. So, now that the SC has ruled that Rwanda is unsafe do you think the chances are greater or lesser that the next application for an injunction will succeed? Well... if it wasn't for the fact that we are going to have an election within the next few months, there would be a fair chance that Labours supreme court would be abolished. It was president Blairs idea to have a US style supreme court. Our legal system was the envy of the world and adopted by countless countries, but Labour had to meddle and in 2009 implemented a 'supreme court' just like the US. I digress. I wonder how people in other countries see it? The supreme court and the UN say Rwanda is unsafe, yet the UN have been sending refugees to Rwanda for years. Is it a conspiracy? What was the highest court in the land before the Supreme Court was established, Red?

And what's the difference between the House of Lords and the Supreme Court? Well if there's no difference, what's the point of the supreme court? It was essentially just a renaming of the HoL court. Same judges, same procedures, same jurisdiction. I honestly don't know why it was renamed. It was an image thing, I think. It just looked really antiquated to be calling it the House of Lords. Every other country has a supreme court. I don't know where you got the idea Blair was trying to emulate the US Supreme Court.

Anyway, I don't fancy the chances of the next Rwanda plane getting off the ground, not after the SC's finding that Rwanda is unsafe. Stranger things have happened, though. We'll see.

There are loads of links, google 'Blair wanted a supreme court' and follow links from there.

Can't you give a synopsis? Tell us how the SC's jurisdiction differs from the old HoL's jurisdiction. They're essentially the same court but with a different name.

It has the same titles for its judges, the same jurisdiction, the same procedures as the HoL. Just a spanking new name.

The right stopped respecting the law when they had to defend Boris for trying to subvert Parliament. The Supreme Court found him guilty and they've never forgiven it.

The important thing is that it's the country's highest court and it has made a finding of fact that Rwanda is unsafe. If the 'lefty lawyers' were able to keep the Rwanda planes on the ground even without that kind of supporting opinion from the SC, what do you think they'll be able to do now that they have it?

The Supreme Court is not the same as the HoL, oh boy. Sir Jacob Reese-Mogg is very eloquent on the differences of the supreme court and the Lords of Appeal, and what it meant to British law.

Yes indeed, the country's highest court says Rwanda is unsafe. The fact that the UN have been sending refuges there for years is shall we say, a moot point.
