'Naive' SNP slammed for eyewatering mismanagement' as report exposes £1 BILLION budget holeThe SNP has been accused of "eyewatering" mismanagement after a report from economists at the Frazer Allander Institute showed that the SNP must address a £1 billion funding gap on resource spending. The figure is expected to rise to £1.5 billion when capital commitments are included, the report said. It warned that the fiscal situation in Scotland is likely to be "quite tight" in the years after 2024/5. Scottish Conservative shadow finance and local government secretary Liz Smith said: “This eye-watering report only highlights the SNP’s astonishing mismanagement of Scotland’s finances." www.gbnews.com/politics/snp-finances-budget-reportHo Ho Ho, vote SNP.

Tommo and Loony will be along presently to assure that this is completely due to Westminster and the Scots would be so much better with the SNP having total control under independence.
Scooter is now proposing a 44p tax rate for those earning over £75K, which is fine as all the doctors and dentists will then move to England.

But on reflection I think they may prefer to keep their powder dry because they know the SNP are toast.

That is because the English stole the Scots taxes in an attempt to destroy Scotland's economy 'Welcome to SNP Scotland': Humza Yousaf blasted after Budget confirms crippling tax hike.
Very Dramatic Headline in the Express. The facts tell a different story: 1. Around 154,000 individuals, the highest earning 5% of Scottish taxpayers, will pay up to £1,881 more tax from the introduction of the new 45p Advanced rate band. 2. Those earning less than around £28,850 – which is 51% of Scottish taxpayers (1.53 million people) – will continue to pay slightly less Income Tax in 2024-25 than if they lived elsewhere in the UK. 3. Around 80% of Scottish households will pay no more tax next year as a result of the Council Tax freeze as well as the Income Tax policy changes announced in this Budget. www.gov.scot/publications/scottish-income-tax-2024-25-factsheet/For those earning over £75,000, the slight increase, working out at "up to" £36.17 per week, is not in any way "crippling". Anyone earning that sort of money should be happy to pay that wee bit more.

Well here is a fact for you - if you went to a top Russell Group university in England and then get a job in Scotland paying over £100,000, your marginal tax rate is now 78.5% (even worse if you are postgrad). If Scotland were trying to devise a system of making the country unattractive to the brightest and best it couldn't have done a better job.

Anyone earning over £75,000 will not be that badly worse off. A maximum £!,881 is not going to be that big a deal to someone in the top rate bracket. If they are put off by paying a bit extra, then good luck to them. An employer would probably try to structure the overall package so that the tax difference is taken care of. If the job is perfect to the individual, he/she will go for it.

An interesting article from Struan Stevenson the chief executive of Scottish Business UK
Those of us that have spent the past few years pointing out exactly where the SNP would take Scotland were derided and mocked by those whose hatred of Westminster and anything English surmounted all facts can now feel vindicated, the mess is precisely what we predicted. This article comes from a Scottish business executive, not the Daily Mail/Express/Telegraph or WoS.
