You are avoiding the blindingly obvious the Far Left extremists that lead the Unions have caused more disruption, cancelled hospitals appointments, operations Medical Staff unable to get to work, workers losing wages, damage to our economy, perhaps you don't know how many many thousands of people they effect every day they strike and the degree of pain anguish and suffering they have caused not just in London but right across the UK, far more than all the idiots who glue themselves to the road have done. I find it difficult to understand how anything in the above quote justifies the unbalanced egos who deliberately block emergency vehicles and cars.
Yes, two different groups with unbalanced egos using different methods that causes the same effect on the population, the Oil Protester caused localised disruption for short periods of time, the others for much longer periods of time and widespread disruption, I don't support either, but I have to endure them both

Then our sentencing is the problem. Doubling the term in jail for each successive conviction would be a good move. That is a matter for the Courts to address and consider the Police have no say in what happens to them if they plead guilty or found guilty Actually it's the Sentencing Council but your essential point is valid. The Sentencing Council leave the courts and police with a thankless task.

If they are charged with just simple " Wilful Obstruction of the Highway " maximum sentence is £50 fine, IMO I beg to differ slightly the Magistrates or Judge has to bear in mind Sentencing Guidelines when passing sentence, it is not compulsory to follow then the letter as far as I am aware, as per usual each case is based on its merit

This government decided long ago c 2011 that because they each had round the clock police protection and official cars then money could be saved by inflicting criminals on the rest of us with reduced sentences.

Is a salient point. These protesters aren't stupid. They have deliberately targetted weak areas of law. They know that the penalties are severely limited, and that's exactly why they're doing it this way.

That doesn't excuse the fact that the police are handling them with kid gloves, almost as if they are victims.

Do you see those two who tried to destroy Van Gogh's painting today as victims too? Absolute morons. Apparently apart from criminal damage they have also been charged with trespass, which makes me wonder whether in entering the museum they broke an injunction?
