What's your first impression on seeing a headline like this one?

OK I'll kick off then.
Resident virtue-signallers will no doubt say 'Our first thoughts are with the family of the victims and their loved ones' while students of modern urban life will be thinking 'Hmmm Hackney eh. Gun crime. What odds on the ethnicity of both the victims and the perps?"

Could well be or could be some sort of domestic incident or a whole range of other possibilities.
Regardless of skin colour and even if this turned out to be drug gang related, wouldn't any normal persons first reaction be sympathy for the innocent victims in this rather than wondering about the colour of skin of the victims and perpetrator.

They could be white and still be 'ethnic'. Your obsession with skin colour is becoming a little tiresome dappy. Not a family-related issue is it?

I assumed Dan the point you were trying to make was "Hmmm Hackney, eh. They must have black skin"
The corollary seems to be that if that is the case, you don't care about the deaths of these people.
Your choice of the type of person you want to be.

Your choice of the type of person you want to be. You're personally attacking Dan with your preconceptions whilst failing at everything else. Perhaps you should reflect on that.

I will of course reflect deeply. But I am struggling to see what other conclusion to reach from his post below. If I have misunderstood what he was trying to say, I will of course apologise.

I think it's as simple as the media editing itself to keep certain facts out of the public light. Some may say it's irrelevant while others will disagree because it creates an unrealistic or at least an incomplete picture. It's supposed to be the news, which is meant to be objective.

What on earth are you talking about?

I assumed Dan the point you were trying to make was "Hmmm Hackney, eh. They must have black skin" The corollary seems to be that if that is the case, you don't care about the deaths of these people. Your choice of the type of person you want to be. There were almost 700 homicides in England and Wales during 2022 the last year on record. Did you care deeply about each and every one of them dappy? That's two a day you'll need to be fitting into your busy schedule.
As for black perpetrators of crime in Hackney, according to the last census 21% of the population was black and another 3% black mixed, so let's say one in four. Would you lay me odds of 4 to 1 that the perpetrators and victims in this case are not black?

I wouldn't say I care deeply about any of them Dan and clearly I would be unaware of most. Where I do become aware, I would though have a passing thought along the lines of "oh gosh, how awful. That is terrible for them and their family. What a dreadful world". Unlike yourself the extent of that sympathy would not be dependent on the colour of skin of the victims.

Fair enough but would you be prepared take the wager as proposed? In other words you give me four times my stake if the perpetrator(s) and victims turn out to be black?

I really wouldn't want to gamble on the skin colour of a murder victim Dan. With respect I think you need to take a little look at yourself if you think that is appropriate. No doubt what lead to this incident will in time become known.

What on earth are you talking about? It's self-explanatory.
But Dan isn't on trial here. The media and the political motivation behind the omission of information is what's being questioned.
