The principle of revising taxi licensing rules in Shropshire …. That’s all this “story” is about. Really, that's all? And if he had displayed a red poppy on his taxi would it just be "Thems the rules" The council can change their rules, can decide to apply them or not. What they have done is a copout to save money on making decisions on other less savoury advertising, motifs etc.

Blimey Zany, I thought you’d have more sense than to wade in to the Taxi Licensing regulations in Shropshire. Some publications and their readers need a constant supply of new outrage but this non story is surely slim pickings.
Deal with any local authority and they will tell you that consistency is key. Everyone will come up with all sorts of reasons why they are a special case ( I am pushing just that line with an organisation I work with). The Local Authority has to hold the line and treat all to the same standards. If it makes an exception for one, then all the special cases will claim that an exception should be made for them too.
The local authorities rules have been written such that all its cabs as much as possible look the same. Some guy wants to be an exception. There is no need for him to be so. That’s all this non story is.

I think we're all well aware by now that there isn't a single thing which promotes multiculturalism while also deprecating the native society that fails to receive whole-hearted approval and support from dappy.
Even to the extent of proclaiming that 'Local authorities have to hold the line and treat all to the same standards'. What utter tosh!

A policy promoting uniformity in Shropshire’s taxi’s has now become a promotion of multiculturism and deprecating “native society”. Bless.

It's only a short step from that to the council sanctioning 'BME-friendly' housing policies as happened in Bristol not long ago:
"Lincoln Gardens cost more than £6 million, has 55 bedrooms and was put up by the city council and the Guinness Trust on the site of the former Wainbrook elderly persons' home.
It includes 19 flats suitable for "tenants from the Muslim community" following local consultation.
A council spokesman said: "The toilets in these flats are orientated so that the user doesn't face Mecca.
"Beds are placed so that feet are facing south east and not north west.
"There is a door between the kitchen and living room plus extra ventilation in the kitchen to stop smells escaping.
"And plumbing has been carried out to allow for the addition of a bidet or a shower head to allow the washing of the toilet bowl."
And in Rochdale:
"Contour Homes has demolished a low demand sheltered scheme in Deeplish, Rochdale and replaced it with a development of nine family properties designed to meet the needs of the Asian community. Working closely with Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council who identified a high demand for this type of property, Contour Homes secured just under £600,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency for this £1.3 million scheme.
Six, 3-bed, five person homes and three 4-bed, eight person homes have been built to meet current Homes & Communities Agency Standards and constructed in line with Rochdale’s Asian Housing Strategy [sic]. The properties also meet the Secured by Design criteria and achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level III.
Designed by Michael Hyde Associates and developed by Richardson Projects (part of RoK Group) on behalf of Contour Homes the scheme was developed in just over a year.
Contour Homes Project Manager Andrea Swanwick said: “A change in the demographics in this area meant that the former bedsit and flats on the site were no longer in demand."
I'll bet they're not in demand. Nobody wants to live in an Asian ghetto although I'm sure that dappy would have no qualms about moving his extended family into one and will even vote the council back in next time. Anything that gives Whitey one in the eye is goodness in his book.

Anything that gives Whitey one in the eye is goodness in his book. The thing is, they don't. Those extremists in Labour who used to refer to areas of England as hideously white have no intention of moving there, and are happy in their own hideously white areas. They just want these multicultural areas out of sight.

An Asian ghetto. Really Dan you area one. Zany appears to believe they don't exist. Well they might not (yet) in the upmarket area where he and dappy are fortunate enough to live but they didn't exist anywhere else either within living memory, even in Rochdale. But things change, just you wait and see.

Zany thinks the estate being described was not a ghetto. He also thinks Ghetto's come in all colours and religions. And that the word Ghetto has taken on a meaning beyond its original intent.

Do you have a prefered euphemism for places like Heybrook where the native population has been ethnically cleansed and their places taken by others of foreign extraction?
Asian settlement, say, or enclave, rather than ghetto?
In 2021 the population of the Central Rochdale Ward of which Heybrook is part was 24% white (17% of schoolchildren) and the ward covers an area of 2.5 km2. For purposes of comparison only the Warsaw Ghetto covered an area of 3.4 km2 at its maximum extent.
In the Milkstone and Deeplish Ward mentioned earlier the white population is only 16%, so what would your term be for such places?

Wow, like Rwanda you mean? when was the white population forcibly removed? I can't believe I missed that. But anyway they have done a terrible job, you say they left 24% white, why aren't they all dead? And such a vast area. 2.5km2. Why that's almost 0.001% of the country. Truly shocking. As for what name I would give these tiny dots of population, how about 'normal'

Now now Zany, no call for reductio ad absurdum.
The demographic transformation now underway has affected millions of native Britons even if it's hasn't made it round your way just as of yet.
But it will, the trajectory is irresistible.

I'm thinking of places like Birmingham, Leicester, Luton, Manchester and not to mention London. Or many others such as Sandwell, Bradford, Blackburn, Coventry, Woverhampton and Watford that are destined to follow suit by 2030. More 'tiny dots'?
