What i want to know has ommy googled donald anderson and the SRSM , and of course talking of burns , we cant pass up the chance to post my favourite burns poem....
Fareweel to a' our Scottish fame,
Fareweel our ancient glory
Fareweel ev'n to the Scottish name,
Sae famed in martial story
Now Sark rins over Solway sands
An Tweed rins to the ocean
To mark where England's province stands -
Sic a parcel o rogues in a nation!
What force or guile could not subdue
Through many warlike ages
Is wrought now by a coward few
For hireling traitor's wages
The English steel we could disdain
Secure in valour's station
But English gold has been our bane -
Sic a parcel o rogues in a nation!
O would, or I had seen the day
That Treason thus could sell us,
My auld grey head had lien in clay
Wi Bruce and loyal Wallace!

I believe the operative word was "lot" or "your lot", which suggests what om15 said was referring to the plural. The Scottish King made the union of crowns and Scotland wanted the union which created the sovereign country of The United Kingdom of Great Britain. The anti-English mentality is just weak flag waving nationalism, and it's very negative and unpleasant. |

To address your poor history , the scottish king james the saxth was offered the english crown by the anglo privy council , so he became one man with two crowns., Scotland and england remained seperate countires.
the political union was a century after that , and that is the one that the scottish policiticans want to break at the minute . Burns was born a further half century after that .
just as the anti european mentality is just brit nat flag waving nonsense while navel gazing about days long gone and never to retrun. Im not sure why your falg waving should be any more releveant than mine or anyone elses.?
Its also negactive , insular and extremely unpleasant , where as scottish nationalism is outward looking and we as european unionists want to take our place among our european brothers free from your anglo british straightjacket.
