That's one of the difficulties.

She had been part of ISIS's morality Police, carried an AK47 and enforced dress codes on others which she now does not adhere to herself. She also sewed fabric for suicide vests. IF and I mean IF she were to come back, she'd get a life sentence in prison. Has she admitted that and do we know the circumstances in which she did, if she did. The big question is why, considering the number of know ISIS sympathisers that have been allowed back in the UK, what 'frightens' our government about Begum, we have all sorts of secret services that can deal with her return but Begum seems to be a particular issue.

Of course she looks blatantly guilty to me, but it shouldn't be up to me, we have a legal system for a reason and everyone should have a day in court for our sake as much as theirs. I agree, she looks guilty to me but so did the Birmingham six to a lot of people.

Would you admit that if you'd done it?

And who would give evidence for her. Given we have trained terrorist interrogators in this country who have been working for decades breaking down suspects why are we so afraid that we just wash ours hands of her, innocent until proven guilty should be the law of any decent country.

Would you admit that if you'd done it? No, probably not but a trained interrogator would get to the truth.

I think it was more political posturing by the then Home Secretary and an opportunity to get a pat on the head from the right wing press.

Spot on Happyhornet.
All part of the political game now. God knows how much money has been wasted in the process. What was that old phrase about democracy being a crap way to run a country (but better than all the alternatives)

What was that old phrase about democracy being a crap way to run a country (but better than all the alternatives) Money's only been wasted because her 'legal team' keep dragging the matter back into court in pursuit of a lost cause. It's not been disclosed who is paying them to do this, I'm sure it won't be Shamima Begum.
More likely one of the shadowy taxpayer-subsidised 'charitable trusts' who can often be found lurking behind the curtain in such cases.

As at Sept last year Begums legal bill stood at £2 million, legal experts claim the final bill is likely to be around £5 million. Her case is being pursued by left wing London solicitors Birnberg Peirce and funded by legal aid. In other words the government are funding Begums legal case, against the government.

It would be a lot cheaper to bring her back and put her on trial. It would appear that someone does not want this story to die.

Her left wing solicitors are charging the legal aid fund £1000 per hour. Why would they want this story to die.
