The Court of Appeal heard the decision to deprive Begum of her British citizenship was unlawfulGB News host Michelle Dewberry has issued a withering putdown of people defending Shamima Begum as she bids to regain her UK citizenship. It comes after the Court of Appeal heard the decision to deprive Begum of her British citizenship was unlawful. Begum travelled to Syria in 2015, at the age of 15 - before her British citizenship was revoked on national security grounds shortly after she was found in a Syrian refugee camp in February 2019. Her lawyers are now bidding to overturn the decision to revoke her citizenship after the 24-year-old earlier this year lost a challenge against the decision at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission www.gbnews.com/news/michelle-dewberry-shamima-begum-latest-isisOf course, after what she did she should never be allowed to return to this country. But I sense, she will be back, perhaps not in the next few months but I think she will return. I suspect she will be praying for a Labour government.

Unfortunately this is yet another instance of a Conservative home secretary being hoisted on his own petard. Javid's decision to revoke is looking increasingly likely to be torpedoed by his predecessor's Modern Slavery Act.

I think Begun is a vile, nasty piece of work but revoking her citizenship was irresponsible. I don't want other countries dumping their problems on us so I can't in all good conscious advocate us dumping one of our problems on someone else.

She's now a citizen of "Islamic State" and is entitled to one of their passports and to live on the 50 square metres of land they still control in a corner of Syria.

In my view it as wrong to revoke her citizenship. I wouldn't want Syria to dump one of their problem citizens on us so I don't think we should do the same to them.

It is unlawful to leave someone stateless, which is effectively what's been done here.
Not that I give a flying fornication about Begum.
What is more alarming to me is the sheer number of courts, tribunals and what-have-yous that appear to have jurisdiction in these matters: We seem to be having the appeal of the appeal of the appeal.
It should be one court, one appeal and that's it.

So someone who uses a 'dodgy' passport should have their citizen revoked? We have no evidence that she assisted ISIS, we only know she was there, we have no idea what circumstances led to her being there and never will until she is interviewed in this country.

If necessary , she can be interviewed on Zoom or Teams. Court hearings use these methods daily without the security risk of the defendant leaving a secure site. Physical presence is unnecessary

Physical presence is unnecessary I agree but one way or another it should be done. What really worries me about this whole sorry affair is the the government 'allows' known terrorist sympathisers to walk our streets, we even have schemes to re-integrate them. but are this worried about a girl who was 15 when she left. I wonder what Begum knows?

She's not been convicted of anything that's true, which is why I think she should be tried in a British court.

She had been part of ISIS's morality Police, carried an AK47 and enforced dress codes on others which she now does not adhere to herself.
She also sewed fabric for suicide vests.
IF and I mean IF she were to come back, she'd get a life sentence in prison.

Of course she looks blatantly guilty to me, but it shouldn't be up to me, we have a legal system for a reason and everyone should have a day in court for our sake as much as theirs.
