Went buy some wild bird food at my local pet shop, you can get sacks of it for fifteen quid, i go a bit up market and buy Robin and songbird with 15 kg for 20 quid, the birds need it. Do it daily dont miss a day, you will be well rewarded with bird attendances.
The shop has a yard with several horses which i feed sometimes, and has a sign that says fresh horse manure for sale. I did enquire whether they had Cambridge playing there. Anyway my father grew up in Beloruss, and one of the few things i got out of him was an interesting fact about horse shit, that when you dry it, you can roll it into a cigarette and smoke it.
You must have seen that im posting this in the Labour section, there is a reason for that. This shop will have a queue in five years for horse shit to smoke because Labour will have been in charge for that long, if they last that long. The country will be in dire straights and horse shit may be seen as a luxury. There will be a double delivery when listening to a Labour politician speak.
La horse shit bour. Should be on a flag.

LOL, go for it piglet. I admire your anti left point of view. On your broader point, we also buy bird feed and we've discovered it's impossible to stop squirrels and at least one very persistent field mouse from snaffling it when it's the feeders, btw, squirrel proof feeders lol yeah right. Don't be fooled, squirrels see them as a challenge. Anyhoo, we refer to bird feed as bird, squirrel and mouse feed. Just makes things easier.

Some of my neighbours have stopped feeding the birds due to the amount of mice and rats that are attracted . We have plenty of oak trees so the squirrels arent hungry .

Yes I have considered the risk of bird feed attracting rodents, and I do keep an eye on it. But in the years we're been putting bird feed out we have never seen any evidence of rats or mice, apart from a field mouse who I concede we have left food out for him, I even built him a little den. Sadly we havent seen him for months. We do find droppings occasionally that we initially thought may be from rats, but we were reliably informed it was hedgehog poo.

Yes, hedgehog shit is a bit bigger and oily . My neighbour feeds the local hedgehog . I take over duties when they are away and the hedgehog shits on my drive as a reward . Whenever I been where bird seed is about mice ( and a rat once) aren’t far away . My cat kills a few of them .

Our beautiful cat is sadly too pampered to kill a mouse, she has even 'played' with the field mouse I mentioned, I'm afraid she lacks the classic feline killer instinct.

My late namesake ( in the avatar) would catch both mice and birds and eat them alive . He was a brute.

They used to go under the shed, but we moved the shed and closed in the bottom of the refurbished shed. I found that peanut butter was the last thing they ever licked when they met with the trap. Then we put the dead rats on the lawn and the gulls took them within 30 minutes. Recycling at its best.

I had a problem with rodents , it was because i threw out bread and food out, now i dont there are not any. Even with rats i would not try and kill them, they are part of everything. I just throw seed out, on the grass and under bushes, rats dont eat seed. I attract sparrows mostly who are delightful birds, so fragile, a few ring necked doves, tits if im lucky and an occasional robin, not a wide clientele, i have a thing about sparrows i dont know why.
I have a mock brass bird bath full of water, and its delightful to see three four birds having a bath, frolicking and playing. I have thought of setting up a pro camera or whatever to post a video of them playing with some soft piano music and calm orchestral music as a relaxation thing on you tube, does anyone know how to do it?

The only good rat is a dead rat, piglet. They are called vermin for a reason.

I'm no expert but I have a wildlife camera that takes stills or short clips all done by motion detection which is how I found out Roland was helping himself, they're easy to use not too expensive,I got mine from Aldi for about £40 I'm sure you could add music but you'll need someone with more technical know how than me so if you ask I'm sure someone will help.
