There is still too much bitterness from the leave voters for a reasonable discussion. Check out the EU section. On the first page of threads only 2 were started by Remain voters all the rest were started by Leave voters. They really need to get over it. Jeez, imagine if they'd lost. Good god man are you for real? I remember extremely aggressive remainers waving their EU flags and screaming at anyone who may have voted leave. The 2016 referendum was the largest democratic vote in UK political history, and in good old EU tradition the result has more or less been ignored. Yet remainiacs are still screaming. The first page of the EU section says different. Check it out. Only Sid Thomas and Darling have started a thread there on the remain side. One each. You've started 8 threads on it. Vinny has started 6. 3 by Wolfie, 2 by Sheepy 2 by JoG 2 by Buccy plus one each from Bancroft, Jonsky and Ginny. Time to move on.

Starmer the man who until 2019 used the courts in an attempt to stop Brexit and overturn the referendum result recently said EU free movement must be preserved. The referendum was pointless because the result has been ignored. The EU has won, democracy has failed.

I was hoping this wasn't going to be a rinse repeat of Evil EU Brexit thing. I hoped for a mildly interesting discussion on why people vote as they do. That's a shame, never mind. I'll leave you to it. well you posted a clearly utterly biased attempt at rubbishing the reasons why we told the EU to fuck off, pretending we did it out of a desire for change that overrode our common sense. What exactly did you expect a bloke who has waited 40 years to tell the EU to go fuck itself to say ?

I was listening to a program the other day on voting campaigns and as part of it they considered Brexit. There was a claim that the reason they got it so wrong was that a large number of leave voters were non partisan. That these were older people who had become dissatisfied with all parties over their years of voting and were just wanting a chance of change. Almost anything to press a reset on the country. I was a remain voter, so I didn't have this, but I wondered how many you leave voters agree with the statement above. Oh Red old mate, you're so bitter you can't even read straight. "The reason they got it so wrong" refers to them predicting how the vote would go.

I reckon that leavers voted to leave because they wanted to leave . Apparently we didn't understand why we wanted to leave, not that it matters now. We never properly left the EU, and with the prospect of a pro EU Labour government fast approaching any chance of the referendum result being realised is a forlorn hope. But there is one thing that history will record and remainiacs can never take back. In the biggest political vote in UK history the majority voted to leave the EU, and were ignored. Yay democracy.

Like local elections, where people often register their dissatisfaction by voting against the current administration, people knew what’s decided wouldn’t change the government. But post referendum surveys showed it was likely that the number of people voting Leave because of immigration more than tipped the balance…

You are therefore, a personal insult I've not been on the electoral roll since Thatcher made it compulsory. Fuck the poll tax.
