Tell me why you don't think so. Because it is a balance between weight vs range. If adding a few batteries increased range without the impact of weight, then all EV's would have massive batteries with a 1000 miles of range. As it is around 200 miles seems to be the sweet spot. But feel free to tell all the car companies where they are going wrong. Indeed, unless it's cold. And range will be reduced further if you put the heater on. Perhaps EV's should come with electric blankets for occupants? Oh wait a minute... maybe a coat would be better.

Not blankets but heat pumps.
An increasing numbers of EVs have heat pumps instead of traditional heaters, some like the Tesla Y as standard, others like VAG products as optional extras.
Heat pumps, being several times more efficient, don't have the same negative impact on range.

Look it up yourself Dan....When was the last time you saw a heater listed as an optional extra in an ICE vehicle?
One of the most notable bits of new technology helping to boost the range of an EV – particularly in winter – is a heat pump. Now an optional extra on many EVs, heat pumps retain heat from the batteries and use it to increase the range of an EV.
Here we explain how heat pumps work, how they benefit your electric car and how much they cost as an optional extra.

heat pumps retain heat from the batteries and use it to increase the range of an EV. So they take heat from (ie cool down) the battery? Interesting solution.

Anyone have the room for one of these LOL....Many houses in the UK dont even have a front or rear garden leet alone room for one or both of these monstrocitys. he installation of bigger heat pumps and electric car chargers the size of phone boxes will be allowed without planning permission under government plans. The Government is proposing to abolish a size limit on heat pumps to allow bigger units to be installed in a bid to cut down on noise pollution.

The Americans have found out why batteries fail and can even explode. They grow micro filaments which short them out, and as it ages so it gets worse. This is why batteries get hot, which kills efficiency as well. You lose 10% of the energy in a charge cycle. If this problem could be fixed it would be possible to create batteries with 1000 mile range using different anode and cathode material which can't work right now due to this problem.

The original notion here was that this would be a heater that heats up the car thus fixing the problem of the car being cold
Are you aware what a heater is?

OK so let's humour you. How the fuck are you going to transfer any meaningful current from your caravan to your EV? And BTW leisure batteries are not built to sustain power over a long duration so at best you would be able to use your heater or wipers..Like I have stated both you and BVS grasp of physics wouldn't cover the back of a postage stamp.. No. You are a rude idiot. I have no desire to humour you.

Both you and BVL have no knowledge on electronics and just post the same old shit handed out by the doom goblin.

Caravans with a large bank of batteries installed is just ‘ let them eat cake’ idea . ICE vehicles do not need the extra expense in order to tow caravans . Its a crazy idea. I just pointed out the physics involved made it possible. In reality the weight ratio of car the caravan would prohibit it in most cases.

You can slam it into reverse so it heats up the battery. So are we putting heat into the car to stop the occupants from freezing or putting heat into the battery to enable it to be recharged?. Why not fit 2 heat pumps? - they could be powered by the trailer carrying all the extra batteries... there's a plan..
