Cutting down on the use of plastic is something i have some sympathy with. The gratuitous use now is function of price and the stuff really isn't good news environmentally. Here is some low hanging fruit that wont leave people functionally stranded - International air travel - (99% of this is frivolous) The internet (99% of this is frivolous) Who wouldn't support recycling plastic. You missed my point. I was saying Greenpeace didn't give a balanced view. International air travel, comes under pleasure and entertainment. I don't think joy and making memories more frivolous than central heating or dishwashers.

Towing is another aspect of driving that EV's are inherently unsuited to - just another lack of forethought when they introduced the EV mandate. I didn't know that. As they are pretty much all auto gearboxes, can't they just be put in "N" and towed or does it cause some damage? Towing - not being towed

The internet (99% of this is frivolous) Apparently there is quite a lot of support for a limit of 4 flights per person in their lifetime..

I didn't know that. As they are pretty much all auto gearboxes, can't they just be put in "N" and towed or does it cause some damage? Towing - not being towed This is out of date. The BMW ix has a towing capacity of 2,500 kilos. The reason many electric cars were supposedly incapable of towing was that no one had ever done the calculations so no towing weight was given. That has changed now. If you think about it logically the weight a car can pull along is the same whether that weight is in the vehicle or towed behind it. There were also suggestions that the energy recapture features of these vehicles also prevented them from towing, but this was a myth created to try and explain why there were no towing figures for them.

Drivers warned of towing caravans and trailers with an electric vehicle amid weight concerns...... Drivers are being urged to check the capability of their electric cars amid fears EVs cannot handle large weights or tow trailers and caravans. Earlier this month, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles issued new guidance about electric cars to outline key factors relating to costs, charging and infrastructure....
Who is concerned and why are they concerned? Your quote talks shit.

Ha ha, I lost count after 56 in about 1997 then I've probably had another 30, so 86? I'm sure others have had many more. I must pay some penance My son is married to a Spanish lady so they go there twice a year. Should they go by car? Electric, of course!

My central heating has never caused me difficulty getting to work. My dishwasher used to get upset, but its OK now. Planes contribute 2.8% of Co2. Cars and Lorries 20% Home heating 17%. Don't worry about planes, swap your home heating to Airsource.

So in otherwords you cannot dispute it....When these EV's kong out because they have not been charged then their are two vehicles that either have to be towed or recovered.. Who in their right mind would wan't to tow a caravan with an EV?

Cars and vans account for around 10 percent and the electrification plan wont discount 100% of that, more like about 10 - 15% - ie You would probably save more CO2 by dealing drastically with aviation. The vast majority of aviation is trivial and each journey is regulated, so half the job is already done for you. Most people would still be able to get on with their lives, so I doubt this would satisfy you.

Who in their right mind would wan't to tow a caravan with an EV? People who knew their arse from their elbow would do it. You need a battery to deal with the load and mileage you want it for. The Ford EV pickups are 100kWh, which is double a standard car. Another possibility is to fit more batteries in the caravan. LiPo are coming down in price fast and safe as well. The problem with the proles is they are as thick as pigshit when it comes to basic science.
