Is it right to be worried about getting stranded in an electric car?.

Hilarious report from Canada. Bloke with a 1 year old Hyundai Ionic 5 EV drives over some debris and damages the battery - Hyundai want $60,000 to replace the battery. Brand new Ionic 5 costs $55,000 - so car scrapped..

Hopefully that will become clearer when they know how many EVs were parked in the multi story. My dark humour came to the fore yesterday. I read report where a hearse burst itno flames going to a funeral.....Maybe this is the way forward.
Its clearly not an EV. The grill on modern Mercedes is very different to that old model.

There are certainly issues with the design of charging stations. They should have multiple leads so that when a vehicle is charged you don't have to wait for the owner to return and move it before you can start charging yours.

I hadn't realised the thread had osmosed into a general one about car fires. And had you done so you would have been very far off the truth. Though I recognise that by truth you mean "Prove me wrong" rather than "I have evidence"

But no one is fool enough to sqander yed more money on nothing more than a virtual signaling fad. Who can blame them. It looks like another law of "charging rage" is about to be added to the statute books.

Though I recognise that by truth you mean "Prove me wrong" rather than "I have evidence" ICE cars DO NOT HAVE A RECORD of bursting into flames unlike electric lemons.

ICE cars can be tinder to EVs and EVs produce higher temperature fires that are harder to extinguish. Are you that thick ? No. I just know that it happens so rarely as to be insignificant. I also know you have no evidence to suggest EV's destroyed the Luton carpark. That's rubbish. London fire brigade are called out to a serious Li-ion fire every other day. And the "evidence to suggest EV's destroyed the Luton carpark" is that the fire caused the steel support girders to melt and the concrete to break up - neither of which will happen with a petrol or diesel fire. A Li-ion battery fire is more than hot enough to do this. If you google electric fires there are absolutely loads, despite the small take up of these vehicles. There was also a link from Autocar (on this thread I believe) which talked about 3 bus stations being burnt down within 6 months by electric bus explosions. You're the "denier" zany.

Zany is a EV zealot who has never bought an EV. He is the poster boy for not buying an EV. Charging an EV can be a nightmare and range anxiety exists . This simply doesn’t ( or let’s say rarely )occur with Hybrids and ICE . EV batteries are highly inflammable, burn at higher temperatures and are virtually impossible to put out . This doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem with ICE cars . There is a perceived problem with higher depreciation , insurance , cost of repairs and batteries holding less and less charge . All of these concerns are brushed aside by the deniers . And when you are quoted MPG figures for a hybrid that primarily runs on electricity then you know you are being conned ..

I know this thread has a lot of shit about EVs, but I have a rare piece of light I learnt today. It is to do with British Industry. It turns out that for motoring, the power to weight ratio is a very important factor in the design of a car. Well did you know the electric motor with the highest power to weight ratio in the world is currently produced by a British company? They beat the whole world in a contemporary technology. So it goes to show Blighty can do it if Blighty pulls her finger out.
