The consultant anaesthetist, from London, wrote on X - formerly known as Twitter - that the war chest 'supports people to strike, meaning the strike is stronger and the win will come sooner'.
He is a member of the ruling BMA Council, a member of the BMA Consultant's Committee and acts as a media spokesperson for striking doctors.
The Mail can today reveal that Dr Dolphin is also a Labour activist who has been a political campaigner for more than a decade.

The vast majority of hospital consultants DO NOT "charge the NHS" for their services, because most are employed by either the Health Trust or The Hospital. However, most consultants can if they so wish, opt for locum work in their own time, which might involve going onto a Bank. If the government invited the BMA to talks today, the strikes would stop, but the government refuses to talk to the doctors. What the doctors are asking for is something which is not unreasonable or militant They are asking for their pay to be at least partly restored to its value BEFORE the Conservatives firstly froze their wages, and then imposed BELOW INFLATION wage rises. Doctors pay has gone down in real terms, one of the main causes of staff leaving, one of the major reasons why there is a serious staff shortage, one of the main causes of waiting lists which have been growing long before anyone had ever heard of Covid. The serious and deplorable state of our NHS can be blamed on staff leaving, going to less stressfull positions where they are appreciated, in Australia, in private medicine, the private sector, the United States and New Zealand. Yes a record high of debt thanks to blairs PFI and the debt gets even deeper now the most expensive hospitals we could ever purchase are falling down or are unsafe.
I suppose you ike to see that primerly the NHS now is just a playground for the virtual signallers. And peoples health is secondary.

Blair’s failures comes in the form of the Frankenstein-like part-privatisation of public assets, such as housing, education and the NHS, the stalwart of which being the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). PFI proposed to contract private companies to fund public services. Whilst PFI was a John Major initiative, it was barely used until Blair’s arrival. It symbolised the ‘Third Way’ that sought a compromise between capital and labour, a half-way position between government power and private power. PFI, especially in the Health Service, started as a hopeful scheme to improve vital public assets, yet regressed into a public debt crisis, as underfunding of the NHS itself, coupled with large PFI contracts, resulted in a lack of expenditure on actual health, which led to seven NHS trusts needing a bailout in 2012. The absurdly high rates of interests on such buildings undermined actual healthcare, alongside pay for NHS workers. Of course, for a time, PFI and foundation hospitals did do some good things (hence the image of the Blair years as being the NHS’ ‘heyday’), ballooning costs have left the NHS penniless and struggling during the COVID-19 crisis.
Another way in which Blair screwed over us Brits was around education with the introduction of tuition fees. Whereas in years gone by the state could provide high-quality university education to our young people, we essentially privatised the university sector, forcing universities to take neoliberal restructurings and placing hundreds of thousands of students in debt.

The reason why I laugh at your post Fairsociety, and the reason why I wont weep is because the NHS was functioning fine when Tony Blair left office, and it was functioning fine 3 years later when the Tories came to power.
The reason why I laugh at your post is because in 2007, and in 2010, waiting lists were low, waiting times were low, ambulances responded within response times, and people did not wait two or three weeks to see a GP.
You are no better than Jonksy, you blame a government which was in power 13 years ago for the gradual deterioration of the NHS FROM 2010.
You blame PFI, you blame immigrants and asylum seekers, you blame doctors and you blame the management, but you refuse to blame the real culprits - The Tory Government.
