HS2 ... a commitment by George Osborne and David Cameron, given the go ahead by the same two Boris Johnson then committed to carrying on with HS2, but then slashed the projects Eastern link into Yorkshire. Finaly, the entire Northern line abandoned by Rishi Sunak, with unveiled criticism from Boris Johnson, David Cameron and George Osborne. And these Tory supporters have the audacity, and the bare faced cheek to accuse Keir Starmer, the opposition leader, a man who is not in government, of been a man of broken promises, and of U Turns. HS2 was first investigated by the Labour government in January 2009, during Gordan Brown’s tenure in Number Ten. It followed HS1, which is the 109km rail line that runs from St Pancras International in London and the Channel Tunnel and international high-speed routes, opening in 2007. A consulation on a route from Birmingham to London, extending to Manchester and Leeds, was published in 2010.

Rishak has said he will spend the money on smaller projects like getting Leeds an electric tram system and improving several A roads and the M6 to start with. I think these projects will be better than the white elephant HS2 has become. Ok .... so lets have the dates for these smaller projects then ? WHEN will they commence ?, how much is each "promised" project going to cost ?, the dualing of the A1 in Northumberland, the tram network for West Yorkshire, the new train station for Bradford. promises, promises and more promises Bit like the 40 new hospitals Does anyone believe anything this government comes out with ?

The ability to change direction when circumstances show the original decision was wrong, seems a plus point. Cameron fucked up in government, realised he couldn’t correct his misjudgements, and resigned. He should now have the sense to keep his trap shut and let the fourth PM since he withdrew get on and try to retrieve something from the mess he and the others left and not draw attention to their failings… Cameron wanked his way into a majority government, created as a direct result of a public hatred of his former bedfellows, reluctantly delivered, eventually, the promise he had made to the electorate, a process during which i have to admit he stuck rigidly to the principles and direction he said he would when making said promise, unlike the berk with the hair… but when the people gave him their verdict he ran away from tbe promise he made to take our verdict to the Europeans, choosing instead to take his cocaine chugging chancellor and bugger off and leave us in the shit of his making like the prize piece of shit he was

BREAKING NEWS: Rishi Sunak finally axes HS2 in the north The Independent The Independent Rishi Sunak finally axes HS2 in the north – weeks after The Independent revealed plan
The mistake made at the beginning was Labours big mistake, they began their grandiose scheme in London , they should have started it in the North and gone East and West first across the Pennines get that sorted, then worked South Where it started has no bearing on it, it was mismanaged by the Tories. Of course WW1 was Labours fault as well.

That's not the point, I have never been a fan of HS2 but it was promised as a complete solution to Leeds and Manchester, a budget was allowed and exceeded to the tune of billions, where has that money, our money, gone. We now have less than expected for more than expected. Sunak is talking on behalf of the tax payers, saving money, now all we need him to do is the same with these illegal migrants, he's on the right track then .... track ...no pun intended. Sunak has no interest in the taxpayer, he and his wife are tax avoiders. There are no illegal immigrants the Tories allow hundreds of thousands of them.

Are all roads in London 20mph? an excellent question. My answer to you is that in the last two months i have most unusually found myself looking to get to places from london victoria, paddington and kings cross st pancras and i do believe from sitting in taxis and co workers cars picking me up that the great khan’t has indeed designed enough of a stranglehold to fritter away any high speed train advantage
