Scottish money pays for Scottish public services. Scot Gov balances the books. It is Westminster's guesswork, relating to so called spending in and on behalf of Scotland, that brings about that so called deficit! You seem to be forgetting that the UK runs a deficit and borrows to make ends meet. Part of the money borrowed covers their failure of Westminster to sort out what they claim is spent in or on behalf of Scotland, Do you happen to know to what extent the outcome of the 2014 referendum was affected by the votes of non-Scottish born voters? Just curious. If the results of the above mentioned study tells anything near the truth of how each population demographic voted, then foreign born people decided the outcome.

Would you expect anything different next time? I don't know. Ethnicity figures from last year's census, when they are published, will be of great interest. By how much has rUK infiltration risen since 2011? And, by how much has the Scots born population declined? Figures released so far state that the overall population has risen but that this is mostly accounted for by migration. www.nrscotland.gov.uk/news/2023/scotland’s-census-first-resultsIf there is a closing of the gap between foreign born and Scots born it could make it trickier to win a referendum. However, the Polls have shown YES/NO to be roughly at 50:50. So I believe, if that is the case on the ground then everything is to play for. The campaign, once it gets underway, will follow the same pattern as that of 2013/14. Then YES increased support by 15-20% and I suspect that, once the true information gets out, the switch over will gather pace. It cannot be emphasised enough that just under 29% of rUK borns voted YES, a figure that can be increased by working with these 'new' Scots. By showing that what they read in the Mail, Express, Sun & Telegraph is mere Brit Nat propaganda.

English people are British people, Scottish people are British people.
All this talk of the English as being "foreigners" is just SNAT racism. We are British. We are the same.
Devolution however drives inequality. Disparities of representation.
Disparities of support from the state towards those who need public spending.
Devolution is not the only thing which needs to be abolished, the Barnett formula needs to be abolished as well, and replaced by means testing.

I do always laugh at you and your idiotic thought process vinny. You tell us scottish and english people are british , but you dont want scotish or english people to be european. All because you are a right wing anti democratic english brexiter.
Ive told you before , and i will say it again vinny , some mad right wing english brexiter zealot on an obscure interwebby forum doesnt get to set peoples identity.
The british island is a multi national island , that is a small region of europe. We are all the same european people. All this talk of fellow europeans by anglo brexiters as foreigners is nothing more than british nationalist racism.
The only way you are getting rid of devolution in your british prison statelet is by independence of the various nations. As a european unionist , why dont we get rid of westmisnter , which drives inequality , favourability towards london ,and hand all sovereign power over to our european parliament in brussells?
Brits out vinny.

No it's a British taxpayer issue. It costs every taxpaying Brit most of whom were never asked. Ask everyone. Abolish devolution. Perhaps most of the current electorate were never asked, but it was included in Labour's 1997 manifesto, and Labour won:..
Subsidiarity is as sound a principle in Britain as it is in Europe. Our proposal is for devolution not federation. A sovereign Westminster Parliament will devolve power to Scotland and Wales. The Union will be strengthened and the threat of separatism removed.
As soon as possible after the election, we will enact legislation to allow the people of Scotland and Wales to vote in separate referendums on our proposals, which will be set out in white papers. These referendums will take place not later than the autumn of 1997. A simple majority of those voting in each referendum will be the majority required. Popular endorsement will strengthen the legitimacy of our proposals and speed their passage through Parliament.
For Scotland we propose the creation of a parliament with law-making powers, firmly based on the agreement reached in the Scottish Constitutional Convention, including defined and limited financial powers to vary revenue and elected by an additional member system. In the Scottish referendum we will seek separate endorsement of the proposal to create a parliament, and of the proposal to give it defined and limited financial powers to vary revenue. The Scottish parliament will extend democratic control over the responsibilities currently exercised administratively by the Scottish Office. The responsibilities of the UK Parliament will remain unchanged over UK policy, for example economic, defence and foreign policy.
The Welsh assembly will provide democratic control of the existing Welsh Office functions. It will have secondary legislative powers and will be specifically empowered to reform and democratise the quango state. It will be elected by an additional member system.

That was 26 years go. Many taxpaying Brits have been born in the meantime, or were too young to vote in the 1997 election, and for that matter referendums.
A generation has passed.
The threat from separatism was exacerbated by devolution rather than removed. Labour boasted their policy would strengthen the union. It has not. It has strengthened anglophobia.
High time for a re-evaluation considering the cost to taxpayers around the country.
Abolish.

Ah, yes, Time passes, and its passage will enable and ensure Scottish independence. The ranks of the independence movement are sure to swell with every passing year as the older voters, (those more likely to vote for the status quo) die off and teenagers, (those more likely to vote for independence), reach voting age. It's inevitable. May as well accept it.
