Of course it’s off the table . We will gravitate towards the EU until re joining is a small logical step . Davey is gaslighting.

I think Ed's seen the light - people are simply not that interested in the EU now.
The Indy is one of the leading media publications still promoting rejoin - their coverage prior to yesterdays march was:
"Tens of thousands expected to attend march to Parliament"
..and in todays Indy the reality:
"Hundreds of protestors gathered for the National Rejoin March in London on Saturday."

“But Sir Ed insists that people who are passionate about building closer ties with Brussels should still back his party: "We're the real deal."
If you look over decades, Liberal Democrats have been the party arguing for a strong relationship with our European partners."
Labour, he says, are "flip-flopping".
We want Britain to be back at the heart of Europe but we're also realistic that's going to take some time."
I’d like to think that Lib and lab are not interested rejoining the EU but I don’t see it . It’s obvious that a full rejoin is a long way away but if either or both get into office they will start the long march .

Moved from the Lib Dem section, I didn't notice this thread. Ahead of the Lib Dem conference Ed (of course a women can have a penis) Davey was quite unoquivocal, he said he wanted to put any talk of the UK re-joining the EU to bed, he said it was off the table, a non subject. However, at conference Lib Dem spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Layla Moran said the exact opposite claiming it was the parties ambition to re-join the EU single market. So who's telling the truth? Of course, Layla Moran is. Ed (of course a women can have a penis) Davey is aware it's a very contentious issue so he doesn't want to talk about it, but I think it's pretty obvious the Lib Dems are and always have been even bigger EU fanatics than Labour.

We could get a Lib/ lab coalition government next year . Close ties to the EU could be imposed . I don’t trust democracy to keep us out of the EU .

If nobody turns up at your rejoin march - use an old picture.. Ah, the black art of deception which most politicians are familiar with.

There's no point in even asking the question about rejoining the EU because NONE of the mainstream parties will give a truthful answer. They ALL want to rejoin (and that includes Sunak) but none will admit it. I've no idea what the attraction of the EU is but over 75% of our MPs want to be in the EU.
