It seems the EUSSR are dying on their feet and are short of money now treasure Island has left their dictatorship.
Britain could rejoin the EUSSR as an “associate member” under plans for the bloc’s expansion drawn up by France and Germany.
The UK would be expected to contribute to the EUSSR’s annual budget and be governed by the European Court of Justice in exchange for “participation” in the bloc’s single market.
The plan will be officially unveiled on Tuesday afternoon as Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, meets Emmanuel Macron, the French president, in Paris.
Sir Keir has said he would prioritise getting “a much better deal for the UK” as part of a review of the post-Brexit trade deal, due in 2025, if he wins the next election.

The more of this rubbish he comes up with the less people would vote for him. What I would like to see is Sunak actually getting off his arse and laying into Starmer, last week we were going to give the EU an open door for dumping immigrants here, this week Starmer proposes giving the EU billions so that we have to follow their rules, and not a squeak from Sunak. The NHS is just completely falling apart, not a squeak from Sunak, the FCA says there are no problems with de-banking people, not a squeak from Sunak.
What are we paying Sunaks wages for, we seem to be getting very little in return, at least Starmer is bustling about trying to do things, (even if they are absurd things).

It is a good job that there is no such thing as an EUSSR then - except in your own fervid imagination of course.

Posters are overlooking a little fact
Most of the electorate now believe Brexit was a mistake, and a new vote tomorrow would see the UK rejoin
But these Franco-German proposals ( and thats all they are - proposals ) would mean that the UK WOULD NOT rejoin the EU, but we would be an "associate member", similar to Norway or Switzerland.

Can you give us a reputable link to this assertion, (not some rubbish from the Guardian of course), because all the people that I know, including some former remainers, think that rejoining the EU would be catastrophic for our future.

So basically EFTA membership - which Parliament comprehensively rejected 4 years ago with almost the entire Labour Party voting against it..

Not sure if it would be similar to EFTA, maybe, maybe not, but of course the make-up of Parliament will be very different after next years general election. I would rather be part of the European Economic Area, either EFTA or simply EEA rather than be completely cut off from Europe as we are now.

Bollocks. Such a detailed point by point response to every word uttered is most impressive. The great orators of history have got nothing on you. You'd go down a storm in parliament. Keir Starmer launches into a detailed criticism of the Tory government at PMQs. Sunak gets up and simply says "bollocks" in response. I'd pay good money to see that for its comedic value. Perhaps it might be wrapped up in parliamentary language....."Is the right honourable gentleman opposite not aware that he is talking complete bollocks"
