BLM in the Uk was based on an imported grievance from the US.
The UK is not the US .
It’s a stretch to construct social parallels with the US and anyone who does should not be trusted .

No, completely wrong, I never think about BLM and would never have raised it on these boards, if it were not for the fact that some posters clearly do not like the idea of pushing back against racism or discrimination, then I would not have commented.
It seems to me that most in British society support the principles of BLM, and why not, from Cricket and Soccer teams including the national team, to entertainers and celebrities, its making a point that discrimination is not acceptable, but if you think that it is, then thats up to you. Most British society support All Lives Matter, the fact the the title suggests it's only Black Lives that Matter is offensive and racist in itself.
The fact that you and like minded people would be arrogant enough to put any race or creed any more important than another, says more about you than any so called racists on here or anywhere else, just take a look at London most black on black crime, knifing and shooting each other, they clearly don't practice what they preach, because they obviously don't think black lives matter.

A black person who commits a crime using a knife is a criminal A white person who commits a crime using a knife is a criminal A criminal is a criminal, regardless of colour or race However, if black people carry out a disproportionately high number of knife crimes, we would want to know why, but intelligent people would never say "because they are black" because that would be a nonsense. |

All lives matter << .. I totaly agree with that statement
So if all lives matter, why is there a problem with our police forces ?, why are official reports repeatedly coming to the same conclusion, including a report from just a few months ago, that the police have a serious problem within their ranks.
This stems back to what this topic / thread is really all about, and that is that some posters hate the fact that the Labour leader supports the principles of BLM, that he opposes discrimination and racism. Its not I who has put my foot in it, it is these such posters who look utterly ridiculous and stupid.
Its the equivelant of taking the piss out of those of us who genuinely believe ALL LIVES MATTER
As for "victimhood" well yes, black people HAVE been victims of UK racism for several generations, from the time they began arriving here in large numbers after WWII, and though it is no where near as bad as it once was, it still does go on.

Christian? What frigging century are you in. No one I know ever goes to church anymore. And I know more atheists than people who even claim to be nominally Christian. And in case it has escaped your bigoted attention, the UK is no longer exclusively white nor of one culture. And it never really was of one culture. What after all can be more British than a bag of chips? Except potatoes were never indigenous to these Isles but were imported from South America only a few hundred years ago. And the top British takeaway food is now a curry. But this originates from India and was brought here by immigrants from there. And even there it was heavily influenced by Portuguese spices so wasn't even purely Indian. Culture evolves and changes all the time. 2000 years ago there were no Christians here. Everyone was a pagan. Cultural evolution and change, influenced by newcomers, is all a natural part of evolutionary change. And the only ones who fear this are racists and phobes and bigots. Of which one or two here ought to step forward now and take a bow. |

If Starmer supports an organisation that protested ( during lockdown iirc) in the Uk about a grievance in the US then that’s up to him and up to us to note this .

I can forgive Rayner because she is thick but not Starmer .

If a white movement demonstrated in the UK because of the murder of white farmers in South Africa and adopted the slogan ‘ white lives matter’ Starmer wouldn’t give it the time of day .

There are dozens of organisations called "Black Lives Matter", there is not one single organisation. MOST of the protests and demonstrations are not part of any of them, they simply use the slogan and follow the principles. Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a decentralized political and social movement that seeks to highlight racism, discrimination, and racial inequality experienced by black people, and promote anti-racism. Its primary concerns are incidents of police brutality and racially motivated violence against black people ( Wikipedia ). |
