Fair comment Andrew with reference to minority govts though I disagree regards the civil service. Like it or not though the 2016 referendum was a more democratic vote than any GE for a long long time. In the sense that it was a simple binary choice, agreed. But many remnants saw some form of ambiguity in a simple binary choice poor things...

"But Labour sources revealed that in return, Sir Keir is willing to open negotiations about joining an EUSSR 'burden sharing' system designed to relocate hundreds of thousands of migrants who land in Greece, Italy and other countries."
Funny that this idea is floated on the same day as Germany announces they are stopping transfers from Italy under the EU scheme.. The UK is going to end up as the dumping ground again.... also the day italy declares Lampedusa can no longer accept the numbers it has ….

I see that France is also preparing to block transfers of migrants from Italy - and then along comes Starmer saying 'send them to the UK' and people are surprised that he gets a warm welcome...

I note with interest that Starmers proposals have been generally welcomed by EU leaders,... They have found a mug to offload some of their unwanted illegals migrants to - why wouldn't they welcome him... The thread is about asylum seekers not illegal immigrants, they are different.

There wasn't an ambiguity in the choice, but there was, and still is, ambiguity over what "leave" meant. I mean even this year we've had to redo the Windsor Agreement for Norn Iron and rejoined the Horizon programme, there's discussions over Erasmus. What's wrong with having arrangements with the EU about migrants? Seems rather sensible to me. It doesn't mean we have rejoined the EU. We've left, and we're not rejoining soon. You won, get over it.

With the exception of young women with kids the majority of the rest, who are economic migrants should be sent back not to Europe yet Africa or Asia. Interesting point but why does that not happen? Could it be because we are not processing them so we do not know if they are genuine asylum seekers or economic migrants? Could it be because the Tories say they will break international laws but never do, it's just to keep loonies on their side? Could it be because the Tories caused the immigration crisis to boost their popularity and have no intention of doing anything about it?

Your last point is the correct one.
Weird how the numbers are down this year, but the backlog is growing...
Problem for Sunak is that it means the Tories are seen as weak in something they are traditionally strong in.
Ditto the economy and NHS waiting lists and you can see why the Tory support has drained.

Well if they shows visible signs of torture with scars then I think they should be considered for review yet again care needed as some would self-harm. Found this on yahoo today Albanians are being flown back, yet now the picture has changed to this from Yahoo news: 'More than 23,000 migrants have so far crossed the Channel this year, as increasing numbers of Afghans, Indians and Turks attempt to come to the UK on small boats. Overall, however, the crossings are still down by 20 per cent.' Afghans ok (re Taliban yet now Indians and Turks too. The never ending story continues.

You cannot see physical damage to people who have fled before they have been 'damaged'. Do you think people should wait and lose an eye, as is happening to protestors in Iran before they flee and seek sanctuary? We have an agreement with Albania to return their citizens, it's called cooperation. Until we process claims we will not know why they are attempting to come to this country and as I have said the Tories do not want to do this but rather spend billions putting them in hotels to annoy the racists in the country. Do you think the Tories should break international law?

@redrum
I agree that not all scars are visible yet given the numbers we do not have the resources to host a large number of people and the aim should be to process quickly and some like in war will drop through the net.

Have you seen his arrogant big shot ego, he actually thinks he's the Prime Minister, so can you imagine how over inflated the ego will get if he does become Prime Minister.
At least some of them in the EU have been honest. However, EU diplomats told The Times that the plan would not come to fruition.
'There is absolutely no question of helping the UK until we have put our own house in order. 'Starmer is deluded if he thinks that European governments, who are under much more pressure on asylum and migration than Britain, are going to come to his rescue.'

It is a funding pool which supports projects. List of some Horizon suported projects. ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/opportunities/horizon/hop-onDo yourself a favour and at least know something about what you feel the overriding need to make unintelligible remarks about. It is quote sickening to see a jumped up little abusive mouthy opinionatzd fool make declarative remarks about something he has no knowledge of and has to rinse and repeat slogans from 7 years ago. And actually expect to be taken seriously. When the UK is formally allowed access to Horizon funding it will be a huge financial boost to projects exercised in the UK. It will encourage top scientists from all over the world to contribute and is one of the few international investment potentials the UK has. And little Jonksy with all his awareness of the real world thinks international funding for UK science is a bad thing. Just about par for the course. What was that he said about contributing nothing?
