I see the snat is wound up losing to England. It must hurt. im not the one who was so overjoyed at winning a friendly i had to come on this forum to brag about beating a mighty football team in a game of no consequence.
I can practically see the wee spring in your step buccy. Bet it made your week.

I didnt realise beating us in a friendly game of no competitive consequence meant so much to you.

Is Bellingham the world class midfielder that England have been lacking?

A UK team would kill any interest in international football for the Scottish people stone dead. No Scot would be able to bring themselves to cheer a goal scored by Harry Kane from a cross delivered by Bukayo Saka. And pressure from the Westminster Sports Minister to select a couple of token Scots, and maybe even a Welshman when we played particularly weak opposition, would be both humiliating for the celtic nations as well as increasing the politicisation of football.
Besides which, the blazers at the English, Northern Irish, Scottish, and Welsh Football Associations all rather like their sense of importance in having separate representatives within Football's ruling bodies. The rest of the footballing world have long claimed we're overrepresented, but we've generally fought tooth and nail to retain that status quo, so voluntarily giving it up must remain a most unlikely prospect.

Now that Gareth Bale is retired it's hard to think of any Welshman who would make the England squad let alone the first XI. It goes without saying that the same is true for any Scotsman too.

We should let the sweaties fret about losing to England and we should consider losing to Scotland a disaster. Losing to such weak opposition should be considered disgraceful.

Indeed, it's a non-starter for the foreseeable. Even if their players weren't up to much, it has to be admitted that the smaller nations don't provide much in the way of visible diversity, whereas England can provide that much prized ingredient with ease. A Scottish kitman and a Welsh coach driver might be all that could be pointed to as evidence of inclusivity, but the Welsh, Scots, and Irish would be bystanders under such a system, and International football would have moved on without them.

I see the snat is wound up losing to England. It must hurt. It must hurt to realise that we couldn't care that we lost. In the past we would really have been up for it - 1967 for example - but this match meant nothing. It was a work out for the upcoming fixtures that will count. A tough one in Spain and two more in which we could shoot ourselves in the foot and lose out, despite our unbeaten run so far.

How do you fit "lost" and "unbeaten" into the same post?

I support England and Scotland equally.
If you have two sons on two different teams, who do you want to win? I want both to do well.
I would much rather there was just one, UK team as there is with the USA, Germany and other multi state countries.

A Scottish kitman and a Welsh coach driver might be all that could be pointed to as evidence of inclusivity, but the Welsh, Scots, and Irish would be bystanders under such a system, and International football would have moved on without them. The Scottish team is doing very nicely. Five meaningful matches, five wins. A loss to a team that should be beating us time and time again is no big deal. In fact England's record against Scotland is rather dismal given they have eleven times the population. England has not always been the dominant force. Remember 1974 & 78 when they failed to qualify? Indeed the only reason the English got into the Mexico WC Finals was as defending champions. The only time your country was successful came about as a result of all their matches being played at Wembley and the goal that wasn't You are right on one point, Scotland might not have world class players now but, who knows what the future holds. Going on past record Scotland will produce top class footballers. You only have to look at past teams and players. The squad that just failed to qualify, for 1966, fielded players of the quality of Denis Law, Jim Baxter, Willie Henderson et al. Then there were those other two great wingers - Jimmy & Willie Johnston. Moving on the following names came on the scene: Kenny Dalglish, Archie Gemmill, Joe Jordan Sandy Jardine, Danny McGrain. Then the Celtic team that won the European Cup in 1967 comprised players who were all from the Glasgow area. The future will no doubt bring footballers to the for, maybe even a few of the present squad will develop into "world class" players. Btw I didn't think much of the English fans booing during the minute's silence. Disrespectful. Also, I think Ally McCoist's 'cringe' comment about the Scottish fans booing the 'English' anthem and his boasting about lustily singing along was disgraceful!

If any English fans booed the minutes silence, sadly every major team has their hooligans. Fuck those bastards.

We shouldnt be playing meangless friendlies against small "middle of the road " teams like wee england. Over something like 116 head to head matches they have beaten us 8 times more than we have them , and they have won one more international trophy than we have.
We had nothing to gain from this match. When we last played them in a meaningfull game in their own back yard they struggled to a draw with us , as thier extemely poor manager feared losing more than he wanted to win.
Strip out the foreign player , cash and managers from the english league and this is whats left..........a poor quality international team that lacks the world beaters that have epitomised footballing artists like argentina or brazil , or the mental toughness of the italians and germans.
Scotland needs to learn from the best , not give people like buccy something to cheer about as he hangs on scotlands every move in anticipation and anxiety.
When i read some of the comments on here.....i cant believe that british nationalism is so fragile that a scotsman walking onto the pitch to play for his country sends them into total hysteria.
