A media influencer on TikTok set the latest challenge to her followers.
Who can take the most paracetamol and survive. Winner is the one who spends longest in hospital.
Surely the kids ignored her. Nope, several young people were taken to hospital with overdoses tying up Ambulance services and specialists.
What's happened to the influencer? Nothing, Nada.
Enough now. No more asking social media companies to comply. Block them until they act properly.

Perhaps the problem today is that a lot of people take it way too seriously. It could be a mental health problem where people become obsessive and totally up themselves. It happens online, especially when they live online behind a fake persona, where fantasy and reality become blurred.
Personally, I couldn't care less about what happens on this TikTok, but I do know there are people who need to control everything.

Mr. Darwin can't kill all of you at once - please form a queue and wait your turn.

Then its our job to stop them and protect our children. It's just peddling for more draconian online laws and censorship over something some idiot may have said. If you want to protect children then there are far better places to stick your nose in. The indoctrination in schools is a good start.

There is a group of people who cannot resist telling others what to do. They seem to have suffered acute withdrawal symptoms since COVID. From the cult of Greta and to the serial offended . It’s the new wave gammon movement. Mind how you go.

A media influencer on TikTok set the latest challenge to her followers. Who can take the most paracetamol and survive. Some years ago before the current heart problems i was rushed into A&E with something seriously wrong The registrar said he wanted to run a test to check it wasn’t a precursor to a full on heart attack but that meant waiting six hours in the unit. Surprised with my reaction ‘oh so you suspect cytoplasmic leakage into the plasma ?’ I has to fess up to being hoist etc as my old team invented this assay Later that night he popped back and asked my opinion on his toxicology lecturer’s statement that the finest cure for paracetamol poisoning was two pints of vodka intravenous…. Surely the man is going nuts… Well i said, draw up a chair. And i drew out the pathway the liver metabolised paracetamol metabolites. And proved there was one enzyme that ‘oxidised’ the drug by products and another that put the partial breakdown of a sugar molecule across the active site which stopped it. The point is the oxidation pathway runs fast and creates a very toxic metabolite. The other path creates a near inert metabolite but that is a slow process. The trick then is to give the other process lots to do The other process, the one that kills you, is run by alcohol dehydrogenase. Fill the bloodstream with not so much vodka, but a stiff tequila margharita, an alcohol solution in a weak physiological saline with a significant citric acid/sodium citrate buffer and a dash of potassium, and the liver is overloaded with booze and the lethal enzyme is overloaded by the need to oxidise the alcohol. This only works once, twice if you are lucky , because severe alcohol dosing creates mire alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme on membranes inside the liver cells. Which is why a patient with any history of serious drinking can’t be saved this way. But tbe average drinker can be. The patient will of course wake from the intravenous boozefest with the great grandmother and great grandfather of all hangovers … but with all that paracetamol swilling in them…. They’ll get over it

Thank you John. That is genuinely extremely interesting. what freaks me out is the idea someone is encouraging people to OD on this stuff. In case any reading this fail to grasp the consequences You OD on paracetamol It oxidises and the by product kills your liver You come round, and think it is over It is not. Your liver has been destroyed. (Your liver is used to being abused. It is the most regenerative organ in you. It has a half life of about two weeks because it handles such toxic shit. But this stuff is way beyond. It kills the cells. It kills them so well you lose the regenerative powers Then over the following months you go more and more yellow and orange. And then your organs cannot handle the level of toxins not being removed as usual Some months later, months you spend in agony, the agony ends when your heart stops. Words fail me. There are no words that describe the level of violence i wish to enact on those promoting this. They must be force fed the product and then dissected alive in front of live cameras capturing the path taken to agonising death. Because it is at the end, irreversible, terminal, untreatable (save for transfusion) agonising death. I hope to god (a figure of speech, i believe he is fiction) the perpetrator of this is utterly ignorant of the details. For the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about.

The shock for me was that this influencer (At the time of reporting) was still broadcasting. That Tiktok did not immediately close them down and give a lifetime ban. What sort of company allows their service to be abused like this? These media companies have no self control so they must have control forced upon them.

As my departed mother used to say. If so-and-so wants go and run over a cliff are you going to follow him? No, I'm going to stop him. I doubt that somehow, some people will always have some influence over others it doesn't matter if they have the mind of a 5 year old. Others will have the same level of intelligence.

Others will have the same level of intelligence. Well clearly or there wouldn't be an issue here. But if you found someone trying to talk a child into taking cocaine would you do follow your mothers advice and do nothing?
