"You aught to study the US in around the 1930s time. " I already did. You make it sound like nobody knew about such things until you discovered them. The books that contain the information are long out of print. I used to know a researcher who pulled out the relevant info which was largely suppressed and now a Disneyland version of history is available in all the shops. And of course, you are able to post up the names of those books which are out of print, aren't you Baron? And the name of the researcher and his research project?

I feel the same way, but I have to wonder: what would a person 50 years older than ourselves say about the culture that we're nostalgic about? What in modern culture will a person feel nostalgic about in 50 years time? Some part of how we feel is due to the fact that we're reactionary old fogeys. It reminds me of the commentator I heard recently complaining that online shopping was undermining the traditional supermarket. Dan is not talking about that but a serious problem which is denied by the masses because their brains are already kaput. For example if you study the structure of music and look at all the different periods throughout the 20th century you will see it has become simpler and simpler. To an alien this would look like humanoid brains are getting dumber. I'm being entirely objective here. Music today will often repeat over 16 bars.

I know you are a troll cunt so I keep such things away from you on purpose. AKA - you cannot post them up because you just made it up (and it was predictable you were going to post up that obvious dodge)

One of the very few post-1950 works of literature that can pass the 'Seriously?' is Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. But that's only because it took so long to find a publisher, the great body of the work pre-dates 1950.

Hyper individualism is a term that I recently read. The concept of everyone’s interpretation of reality being as valid as any other. Tbh I see the seeds if it in the 60s .

I was going to mention that in some other discussion. I see the Chinese use that as a common criticism of our Western culture. They practice the opposite philosophical position of harmony. Where we "fight it out" they interface in a harmonious way, no doubt taking the good ideas from the two and forming a consensus.

I'd like to know the books to which you refer, and I'd really like to review the research you mentioned too. I'm sure others would like to as well.

Hyper individualism is a term that I recently read. The concept of everyone’s interpretation of reality being as valid as any other. Tbh I see the seeds if it in the 60s . The notion of individualism doesn't make everyone's interpretation of reality equally valid That notion comes out of the social enforcement of acceptance, which really has little to do with individualism

'Harmony' isn't a philosophical position and politically it amounts to little but a special instruction for people to shut up and do what they are told. This is fine if you believe that's what is needed but other your other comments complain about militarism and interference - ie run in complete contradiction to the notion of some kind of enforced harmony

If hyper individualism has nothing to do with individualism , it’s a bit unfortunate that it’s called hyper individualism.

Effectively , it does. If hyper individualism has nothing to do with individualism , it’s a bit unfortunate that it’s called hyper individualism. I didn't suggest hyper-individualism is separate from individualism. Nothing in the concept of individualism says everyone's opinion has to be accepted by anyone as equally correct.

It has to be accepted that the individuals view of reality is as valid as everyone else’s . At least within the spectrum of what is tolerated in that society .

Your political prejudices prevents you from understanding my point. Chinese thinking is ancient.

It has to be accepted that the individuals view of reality is as valid as everyone else’s Perhaps i don't know what individualism is - i have never encountered what you are describing here, except in the wokest workshops of secure mental asylums . At least within the spectrum of what is tolerated in that society . There really isn't any sensible alternative to accepting the fact that someone has a point of view. However, that's a million miles from assigning their view any kind of validity.

However, that's a million miles from assigning their view any kind of validity. Do mental asylums have wokest workshops ? A view of reality is a bit deeper than a point of view . If you are a biological man and you insist that you are a woman then it’s not your’ point of view ‘ . It’s a full blown case of you rejecting a reality as seen by everyone else . The movement towards hyper individualism is manifested in the insistence that everyone else accepts that reality. Same as fat people being viewed as beautiful. It’s a kind of weird reversal of individualism and collectivism. You allowed to believe that you are not fat but beautiful ( or women can have a penis ) by the insistence that everyone else agrees.
