Even if it were possible, we don't have a cold enough climate to support woolly mammoths, and in any case the reintroduction of potentially dangerous species would be a danger to humans in these isles, unless they were confined to specific isolated and unpopulated areas somehow.

Beavers have been re-introduced, a nice start... Yeah, I've always been partial to a nice beaver. Provided of course that your menagerie does not also include crabs.

Dear Forumers,
Let us face it, even if you do not want re-wilding from a natural and environmental viewpoint, it would be a big boost for the country's economy to have the ancient big beasts roaming through Britain again. For example, when there are reports such as the big cat of Bodmin, it is probably a great thing for the local economy and tourism.

Re-wilding our Cities would be a good idea . A few Elephants at the castle , Hippos in the Canals of the North and Yetis in Covent Garden would certainly brighten the place up

Dear Forumers, There are various plans apparently for the "re-wilding" of the UK, the reintroduction of species of wild animals that have been previously driven out of the landscape or exterminated. So we may see the comeback of wolves, sloths, bears and woolly mammoths for example. This would surely be a nice boost for biodiversity as Britain is said to be one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. One of the pleasures of living out in the arse end of nowhere is the few pheasants we see. Unfortunately they are incredibly stupid and the males are shit at flying so most of the ones you see are road kill.

Are you sure it is a deer? I get some weird noise at night sometimes like that. I thought it was a badger.

Are you sure it is a deer? I get some weird noise at night sometimes like that. I thought it was a badger. Shortly after I moved to an isolated farm in Wales I heard a loud "unearthly scream" late one night. Locals told me it was a badger. We get foxes, badgers, and deer ... and there's often a ruckus between the birds in the large tree ... which goes on for ages. The badger knocks over the heavy swill bin.

Are you sure it is a deer? I get some weird noise at night sometimes like that. I thought it was a badger. Badgers are pretty quiet , Foxes scream like a baby being strangled when mating and as senior c says deer can be loud during the rut though Ive only seen Roe Deer locally . Thats not to say others are not about .
