For most business nowadays you really need a merchant account, one that can accept card payments. That's to say (not the phone app or the card machine, but a bank that will accept the responsibility for accepting those payments on your behalf. If they say no then you can pretty much only accept BACs or cash. Many customers now judge reliability and honesty on your ability to accept card payments. So I think if a bank wished to get rid of you you still could while offering you a 'basic' bank account. Im not sure you need a high cost merchant account to do that zany. Companies like go cardless offer the same facility at a far lower transaction /running cost than merchant bank accounts.

Why do you read all this conspiracy theory crap, Sheeps? It can't be good for you. Capitalism and banks go hand in hand. Why would the banks want to support a communist revolution? It doesn't make sense. Maybe, there was a rogue banker somewhere who had an ideological change of heart. Who knows? But the idea that the banking system as a whole would relish a communist takeover is just absurd. The banks don't support communism. They support making money on the back of an uber, progressive (allegedly) ideology. This political transformation has seen capitalists capture the heart and minds of the tranny-ideologues. No more does this vociferous, rowdy and toxic mob go on anti-capitalists marches, or take to the streets against the 1%. Instead, this political transformation has given birth to a symbiotic relationship where the woke are now in love with institutions like the banks for their moral virtue signalling 'values', and the banks make money from this.  |

I don't think you can use go cardless etc without the right sort of bank account. Not sure with all of them. go cardless is completely irrelevant what sort of bank account you have. It can be a basic account , wether busines or personal. The point is more and more companies are using stuff like go cardless , rather than paying employees to sit on the phone taking a card payment.
You can build the go cardless software into say your company website , e mail links , that sort of thing.
