Matt Hancock has stated, quite clearly to the Covid inquiry, that Brexit a none life threatening ideological endeavour was prioritised over the imminent threat of a full scale, life threatening, pandemic in this country.
Civil servants who were 'working' on pandemic preparations were switched to work on Brexit.
When Covid struck their main concern was not the care homes, in fact they did not even know how many care homes there were but rather whether they would have enough body bags and where they were going to bury the dead.
Brexit was important to a lot of people in this country but surely not more important than the wellbeing of the people of this country.
Brexit contributed to the high mortality rate from Covid.

Matt Hancock - Studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford, followed by an MPhil at Cambridge. He then worked as an economist at the Bank of England before joining George Osborne’s department in the Treasury. He was elected as an MP in 2010 at the age of 32 and has served as an MP and an occasional minister since.
Despite this background he appears to believe that his opinion on how to best manage a health crisis is worth something. His latest gift to the country is that we must prepare for wider, earlier and more stringent lockdowns in the future...
Listening to this idiot caused many of the problems we face today.

My point is that the 'government', whose first priority is to protect the people, prioritised Brexit preparations over the need to prepare for a pandemic.
Hancock is an idiot but his testimony has to be taken at face value.
What problems are you referring to, inflation, high taxes, high mortgage rates, high crime?

Feel free to believe Hancock - unfortunately you were not alone.. and now we have excess deaths running at a 1000 a week.

Hancock is under oath and until evidence to the contrary come to light that is were we are. "What problems are you referring to, inflation, high taxes, high mortgage rates, high crime"? again you fail to answer a simple question.

I do think Hancock was thrown under the bus, he's hardly the brains of Britain, and most of the time he was taking instructions from 'experts'. Sadly more people were thinking of ways of making money out of a crisis, the longer the lockdowns and scaremongering continued the richer people became. one of many scams.... Organised crime gangs have stolen £2bn of furlough cash, NAO audit finds Criminals have 'almost certainly' claimed between £1bn and £1.95bn, pocketing money intended for employees of ailing businesses www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/10/23/organised-crime-gangs-have-stolen-2bn-furlough-cash-na

There were 4.5 million on waiting list before covid struck, so what is your point? My point is that Brexit was prioritised over readiness for a pandemic.

And, in retrospect, rightly so given that the majority of Covid measures were completely pointless. ...Brexit contributed to the high mortality rate from Covid. It's a conspiracy then?

Nope, just unlikely to be accurate. My point was the high mortality rate during Covid and the Tory callousness in prioritising Brexit over Covid.
