Fair enough Red, but you have admitted shouting at the telly how normal is that? TBF though I do the same and did so whilst watching that **** Campbell on QT last night. Anyway this is just a bit of fun,I have to say these kids are royally taking the piss out of this system where you can self identify as whatever you like, this country has gone mad.

Oh yes, I get annoyed at the telly and radio and newspapers. I thought everyone did? Mrs R is used to it, I'll have a rant about the latest batch of woke insanity and Mrs R will sympathise and make all the right noises, without once looking up from the paper she's reading, and she reads the Daily Mail ffs. I identify as a persecuted majority, I must qualify I'm white male and hetrosexual.

Wap, tell me, where does a name like wapentake come from? Are you Cherokee?.. Wapentake is the name given to the forerunners of the modern census, afaik it is from the Viking era and places they settled here wapentake is literally weapon take or a count of the number of swords to be counted. I came on it doing the family history,a number of my forbears were from around York and it’s surrounding area it’s pretty much how I traced them.

Did you trace them using something like Ancestry.com? No I initially used the BMD records held by the Mormon church and no I’m not a Mormon a lot of people use their records who are doing family research. There is also this facility to use online www.freebmd.org.ukI don’t really like the paid sites or that census information has been sold off to them, once I got onto where they originated from I contacted local historical societies and they have a wealth of info and it’s from them I found out about he wapentake and so I got lots of info including microfiche from them I could view free through a machine at my local public library. Its from this info that I was able to piece together the real family history and not the fairytale version that was made up to cover the indiscretions of one old rascal. It all takes up a lot of time but reading some of the old documents can be informative and very entertaining

Well it does seem to be in vogue, anyway I identify as a miserable old git (Mainly because I am) Anyway just curious anybody else identify as ? Answers on a postcard, well here actually. So how are you supposed to know how people identify themselves? This area is a positive minefield for the unwary. Can you still begin a letter to someone you don't know with "Dear Sir/Madam" or do you have to include other options?

As I said country has gone a bit mad,I don’t care what people identify as but don’t expect us all to buy into it. Occasionally I identify as a daft old sod depends on the mood, people take themselves and their ideas too seriously and complicate theirs and others lives.

Until very recently the English language didn't carry the possibility of the subject 'identifying as' an object.
Identifying was performed on a mysterious object, by a subject. The idea of subject 'identifying' itself would likely be considered idiotic. The old idea is that people made statements about themselves and those statements, like all statements, might be true or false.

I thought identifying with something is wishing to be a commie. Identity:
Every DNA is different though. How can you be the same?
