It matters not who owns the land if you have a tree in your garden as I have which has a Tree Preservation Order on it you cannot touch it, if you need to trim it back for any reason, you have to bring in a qualified tree surgeon who is authorised to carry out the work on TPO's

I just found this. It was in the back of my mind that I had read that the British oaks are under threat. We just cannot afford to lose all these trees Torbay council have cut down numerous trees over the last few years and have been awarded the cossited council of the year award. I would hate to see the the worst council if that is the case. Foreign blight threatens very future of the proud English oak Tory run ENGLAND’S oak trees, vaunted throughout history as a symbol of dauntless English stoicism and strength, are under attack from a foreign blight which threatens their very existence. www.express.co.uk/news/nature/651528/Oak-tree-disappear-wiped-out

The one that massacred the trees here in Plymouth was Tory run, as I have pointed out to you before, but never let the facts get in the way of a politically motivated angry rant. Indeed Plymouth council is Tory run, and cutting those trees down cost Tory council leader Richard Bingley his job. Good and he will lose a chunk of that gold-plated pension too.

If there is I will be in the next cell to you , took one off at the knees 10 years ago, for those who may not know your local Council has a map of all trees protected by TPO's in your area including your garden if you have one, could save your thousands of pounds in fines

I'm trying to find a link to one a few years back, it was a apartment block over looking the sea, but there was a massive big tree that had a preservation order on it, and it blocked quite a big view of the sea.
Anyway it was a stormy night and people could hear a chainsaw, when they woke up the next day the tree was a stump, and all the apartments value went up overnight by about £100,000, but the culprit was never found.

How many of these so called upright UK citizens have ringed trees or driven copper nails into them because they block or partially block their views?

In our local pub one of the locals was talking about someone who had cut a tree down, and the villagers were up in arms, anyway, from the day he chopped it down he never had any luck.

Down our way in Tory land about 15 years ago a developer bought two houses on a corner to build flats and chopped landmark trees down. Locals made a fuss (nice roads too with big houses) and the council got involved though nothing seemed to happen. I drove past some time later and got out to look at the building going on and someone from the site came out as though to challenge me. I stood my ground for a moment as I was on the pavement yet as it was not my property and working for an international bank did not want to get caught up in breach of the peace type event. I do recall it also made local papers.

That'll stop it crossing the channel for sure.
