This chainsaw massacre is going on all over our country mate. If it isn't the eco pricks it's frigging lefty councils. Hackney is planting trees and hedges, and putting large planters in its streets. Probably after lobbying young advisors who enthusiastically embrace any trendy cause even if it disrupts the lives of local residents… I've seen those large planters in streets, they are ludicrous, that's just the looney lefty council wasting tax payers money and pissing people off at the same time.

Just remembered, we’ve also been given parklets — wooden platforms what might have a couple of planters and/or a couple of cycle stands and or a couple of seats. Why…?

Instant prison.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after 131 trees were cut down in south London.
Police were called to Cator Park in Bromley on Saturday morning over a dispute about the felling of trees that were under a protection order.
What a shame, all those oaks. A local developer perhaps? Hopefully he will go to prison.

The just stop oil brigade need to put their talents to better use, cutting down protected trees is a environmental disaster, they are trying to sting us with 'green taxes', while allowing trees to be cut down, left, right and center, then they sit back scratching their heads wondering why we are heading for this global disaster, trees are natural FREE air filters, they absorb a lot of the dangerous crap floating in the air, doing humans/animals and nature a great FREE service for the planet, there should be new laws brought in to protect trees even further. This chainsaw massacre is going on all over our country mate. If it isn't the eco pricks it's frigging lefty councils. The one that massacred the trees here in Plymouth was Tory run, as I have pointed out to you before, but never let the facts get in the way of a politically motivated angry rant.

Indeed Plymouth council is Tory run, and cutting those trees down cost Tory council leader Richard Bingley his job. Indeed. He remains a councillor though but has said he will step down when his term ends. But Plymouth is no longer Tory run. In May the Tories were massacred, losing all but one of the Tory held seats up for grabs. It is now a Labour council. Tweedle Dum messed up so the people of Plymouth put Tweedle Dee back in charge. Slight problem though which some of us tried to point out to the sheeple of Plymouth, is that Labour too were utterly complicit. When they had the chance to stop it most of them abstained. So lets see how Labour handles it now. More contempt for the will of the people is going to show itself sooner or later, it just depends what they think they can get past us. Tudor Evans is the local leader here now. When I was in the party I met him and heard various unsubstantiated rumours from those outside involving suspicions of corruption. And I know personally several of Labour's councillors. It may not surprise you when I report that they are not people to be trusted. Tudor Evans himself has been Labour leader here for two decades or more now. That is far too long for anyone. There have been persistent rumours about corrupt motivations relating to money changing hands in respect of the closure of Plymouth airport and its sale to property developers. The people of Plymouth utterly opposed that but they did it anyway. So whilst it is true that the Tories down here gave the final orders for the tree massacre, both they and the local Labour party effectively function in much the same way, both serving as two cheeks of the same corrupt backside.

I suspect the order was given by the land owner who lives thousands of miles away and bought it for peanuts not that many years ago. A very good reason why peole like those should not be allowed to own our land.

This seems to be privately owned land. Surely this is a matter for the landowner. Meanwhile, councils are cutting down trees right, left and centre.

Never believe what you read from anonymous keyboards or comments on local newspaper websites. Plymouth Airport was a financial basket case and the local "property developer" virtually bankrupted their company trying to make a success of running the airport and airline from there.

In many cases land owners are cutting trees down and then asking permission, one might say it's their land and they can do what they please with it, but the fact of the matter these particular trees had preservation orders on them, so he knew if he asked first, they would more than likely refuse.
It has to be made clear land owners cannot just do what they please, we have planning laws and environmental laws to stop them, if we didn't we'd have Mr Jones cutting down trees and building night clubs and raves on his land.
