Investing in more barges etc indicates that, despite Rishi's promise to drive the backlog down to zero by the end of this year, asylum seekers are going to be around in significant numbers for some time yet. At least he’s making good a promise to lessen the impact of small boats… Absolutely Pat, oh but wait!

Announced this morning - Sunak plans to do away with the backlog by giving an amnesty to those that have applied, they wont even be interviewed. It doesn't make sense 50,000 rubber stamped, it still doesn't alter the fact that 50,000 will still need to be housed, so how is it going to solve where to put them?
after all, as we know they're quite fussy where they are put.

Major boost for Sunak with Tories 'chipping away' at Labour's fading lead in latest poll Story by David Maddox - Political Editor • 4h ago
Rishi Sunak has received another boost with the latest Techne UK tracker poll reducing Labour's lead to the lowest point since he became Prime Minister.
According to the findings of the weekly survey Labour's lead over the Tories has gone down one point to 13 percent after Sir Keir Starmer's party's support fell from 43 percent last week to 42 percent.
The Conservatives stayed the same at 29 percent but the gap has closed by three points in the last week.
The survey findings of 1,632 British voters also put the Lib Dems unchanged on 12 percent, Richard Tice's Reform UK up one point to 5 percent and the Greens staying the same on 6 percent.
While progress is slow the findings seem to validate private claims by some ministers that Mr Sunak can still lead the party to victory.

Except the government isn't responsible for the housing of those with refugee status. They can work and pay for their own accommodation.

Posts that Sunak is creeping up in the polls, then posts article showing static at 29%. I see maths needs a bit of work in Torquay Elementary School.

Yeah, like that's going to happen, once they are rubber stamped they will be off to the benefits office to fill in their housing benefit forms, and claim everything and more that they are now legally entitled to, and the local council have a duty to find them accommodation if they declare themselves homeless, ... another ill thought out plan.

How's that bad news for Remnants? A Labour/Lib Dem coalition would be ideal for many. Many have been less than pleased by the length of Starmer's lead.
