You took the words out of my mouth, Dan... How is that possible, Red. He was talking about the era between the end of the war and 1975. You were talking about the era from 1977 to 1999. Two completely different times? How could have taken the words out of your mouth, Genius? Mhmm, perhaps irony doesn't travel well on a 2d forum.

It certainly does. You can expect to live longer than the gammons from the era you mention, because they had to 'suffer' a lot more. By the way, if the current era is a fall from grace, what does that say about EU membership? The UK was a member of the EU for the entirety of the golden age you mentioned (1977-1999). Einy, what is a 'gammon'? A mirror would tell you more eloquently, Red.

I'm not sure Britain has become stupid it is just that the CBI and political correctness or obeisance to foreign powers mean we dare not innovate so we just plod along.

My reason for the country going stupid is we no longer manufacture a lot of stuff. A manufacturing country, much as we were 19th century, is a country of technicians and advanced skills. Instead what we have become is a country of entertainers and leisure providers. The whole of Manchester is being converted into a "media city". We are moving away from the sciences into the arts, but an important point about theatre, which I actually got from a professor of theatre, is that it is a business of lying. All stage shows are there to deceive the audience. In this setting it is quite innocent, as per convincing you an actor is someone else, but never-the-less, say the new bigwigs are the media creators, TV presenters and journalists. We know what happens. We just had one as prime minister.

Throughout my education we were told there were no prizes for second best. Attendance was expected and non attendance without good reason attracted the attention of social services truancy officers. School assemblies included announcements of pupil’s achievements of excellence on and off the curriculum. In utter stark contrast under Labour achievement is a dirty word. My daughter’s success in the kayak club race was unmentioned. And many others like it. My brother was puzzled to receive a letter from his son’s school and was less than impressed to find it commended him and his offspring for actually attending the class FFS Shelving Meritocracy is the biggest threat to our education system. Personally I feel the MSM and UK Politicians have collectively ‘engineered’ the destruction of UK education during the last 40 years … driving the best teachers out of the profession through a host of inane policies. It’s been a concerted attack on Europe and America. Selective quality immigration can have a beneficial effect on indigenous whites …. who are made to realise pretty quickly … if they mess around in class … their tribe will be doing ALL the menial low paid no brainer jobs in future … likely run and bossed around by Asians and Religious Cartels. Studious immigrants inspire some white UK kids to work harder … push their expectations to another level in a competitive World. …. If they don’t … the future is slavery and possibly even tribal extinction. We need to be seriously concerned this new American ‘disease’ … as illustrated from a lecture by Senior Stanford Fellow Thomas Sowell … doesn’t gain yet more traction here … destroying UK Education like it destroyed American Education. I think the video here in this quote offers a very plausible reason towards the declinist approach we've seen in the UK over recent decades. Whether that education is primary based or university based the 'redress' now isn't just restricted to education but the workforce. Values have been reshaped by liberal progressives and meritocracy has fallen by the wayside for an interventionist approach where affirmative action, quotas and therefore lower standards and less competition have brought about decline.

Why Britain became stupid isn’t entirely down to current education standards … there are many well-educated ADULTS out there making stupid decisions on all sides of the political spectrum.
…. Was it Britons allowing it’s Media and Politics be governed longterm since WW2 by the Zionist/EU Complex and being POODLES to it’s American Globalist Manipulators??. …. instead of ploughing our own furrow on what is logical and economically sensible … too many have switched off their brains, dumbed down our Universities to ‘diversity thinking’ that is just racist and divisive …. following the foreigner-led herd.
We have thrown away our learning and lessons from HISTORY … now being rewritten …. and distorted … taken out of context by tribes hostile to OUR interests.
Listen to this guy from GeoPolitics Worldwide rolling out his American-slanted vision on how the World ticks ….
…. He makes some interesting observations, alot of erroneous sweeping statements …. but his future planning seems detached from reality to me … what do others think??
(I started getting worried when this Texan Dr Strangelove casually mentions the death of 700million Chinese in his Great Reset … with as much feeling and concern as a Chairman Mao or Joe Stalin)
Eeeeek! …. what a nutter.

I think we are doing things at the universities in the sciences whether that just has a commercial application or just goes to the military, not sure. Looking at the second hand market with older chaps making parts to replace obsolete parts you don't get any more is encouraging and some are not even that old. Yet they work on very old cars as well as recent ones to keep them running and add value to sell on. It is not just filler and paint. In one series they hired an old relic from a museum and got it running for the London to Brighton run, all was going well until they went over a speed bump and sprung a leak. They fixed it yet of course they did not have speed bumps back in the day. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_to_Brighton_Veteran_Car_Run#/media/File:London_to_Brighton_Veteran_Car_Run.jpg

While one country goes forwards and upwards, Blighty dwells in the low technology past, encouraged by the television of course. I see a lot of examples similar to the one you gave. Museum curation is one of the things this country is becoming. It's celebrating the past where Britain was great because it has been taught pride at school.

That is of course just nonsense when you consider that it is the wealthy elites who own and run everything in this country, we haven't had a left wing government since the 1970s, and "the Tories have been in power for 68 of the last 100 years including the last 13".Britain becoming as stupid as it is - what can be called the stupidification of the people - is due to a many decades long process of millions of idiots increasingly subcontracting their thinking out to tabloid media owned by the wealthy elites. You need only work in retail to observe that half the people are as dumb as rocks. Yes indeed, the Tories have been more successful than Labour, but that's because traditionally they were a centre right party. Quite obviously this is no longer the case. The Tories have for some years been moving from the centre right, to the centre. Just look at this country today: 1. We're overrun with illegals who continue to pour in from the EU. 2. Little boys are encouraged to wear a dress to school. 3. Employers discriminating against white men is normal practice. Thanks to diversity, skin colour is more important than ability. 4. The police are woke: Rainbow helmets, rainbow cars, dancing at gay pride etc etc. 5. The cash strapped NHS spends £millions every year on gender identity services and employs 600 'diversity officers'. 6. School children encouraged to be ashamed of their white privilage. 7. The government and police allow left wing anarchists to stop people going about their lawful business. 8. Drag queens in bondage gear tell stories in nurseries. Etc etc et al. As you know there's more, much more. Do you think these are the sort of policies a centre right Conservative government would promote? No, me neither. 1. A nonsense insinuation. 2. In Denmark? Or was it Sweden? 3. You shouldn't be posting silly nonsense at your age. 4. Police showing a lack of bias does not make them woke. 5. Gender identity is a human problem, it won't go away just because you (and most right-wing extremists) Hate? it. 6. Stop being silly. 7. Allow anarchists, all left wing is just your uncontrollable absolute political bias. 8. Proof please. You have a very active brain, why not use it in a positive way

1977 - 1999. Yes indeed, those were the days. There would have some very angry gammon about at that time. Young people walking about with orange spiked hair, swastikas gouged in their foreheads, and spitting at each other, not to mention the hooliganism, must have sent lots of gammon from that era to an early grave. The 'woke' of today seem tame by comparison. This is a good time to be a gammon, Red. Think yourself lucky. That period also saw the winter of discontent, mass unemployment, terrible urban riots, the miners strike, the poll tax riots, the poll tax disaster itself, the ERM fiasco, cash for questions type corruption writ large and utter disarray in the governing party, not to mention very high interest rates, as well as the collapse in the amount of social housing available, and ending in Blair's cheesy grin. Socially the period began with the rise of the National Front and overt racist comedy on TV, football hooliganism was standard, drug taking became endemic, and wife beating considered normal. And if Red Rackham thinks late 70s and 80s fashions were the epitome of good taste, let us all have a laugh at a pic of him wearing flares, big hair, and some sort of oversized medallion. And if he thinks music was at the height of magnificence, I suggest he listens to Kylie Minogue warbling about how she should be so lucky in love on a loop until he sees the error of his ways. For many millions of people in fact the 80s in particular were a hellish time, but great if you were doing ok and could afford to indulge in spite against those less fortunate.
