A tale or two. I ysed to travel quite a lot, mostly on business. One trip was 400 miles. I had sufficient fuel and did it in a single stint. Not EV territory. I can drive down to Bournemouth and back a distance of 400 miles easily on a tank of diesel, in fact there's plenty to spare, and no range anxiety. Me too. But who the feck wants to. |

KIASorento this plug-in hybrid model, a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and electric motor generate 261hp and 350Nm of torque, so the Sorento PHEV is actually pretty nippy. It’ll cover the 0-60mph sprint in 8.4 seconds and go on to a top speed of 119mph. Woopy do . My old 2007 BMW sludger did this Power (bhp) 160 bhp 0-60mph 8.0 sec. Top speed was higher too. So your BMW sports car can just beat my SUV luxury 7 seater PHEV. Well done. |

I nominate this for patronising sentence of the year. Seriously ZG ,do you think you are telling anyone anything they didn’t know here ? Well it did seem that way when posters are queuing up to tell me these homes cannot be insulated and that's the reason heat pumps wont work. But thank you for the reassurance. Who told you that these homes could not be insulated?Any building could be insulated if you threw enough money at it . |

The bad news is that it’s not as fast as you thought . Your luxury SUV is a heavy barge with a low top end . |

OK. So if you need a bigger heat pump you may not qualify for the Boiler upgrade scheme. You may find it more expensive to run than your existing boiler. Does this mean it can't heat your home ? No it doesn't. The obvious answer is fit insulation even if you aren't fitting a heat pump. Have you tried fitting insulation to a non-cavity wall Zany? This aint the subject for you is it? Back in the old place someone asked the question about insulating solid walls and I gave them the expensive answer. My house in France was very large, 250sq.mtrs of floor space. I did it there, cost around £40,000. This is going to be a major obstacle in addressing net zero. |

Well clearing any building could be insulated but the costs might be prohibitive and you might lose some space . |
