Thanks for that. I have to say that at a glance the JRFT seems to be fairly basic, there's no obstacle course and no upper body strength tests, and unless I missed it, it's a one off test for recruits only isn't it? I don't think I saw anything in the link that says the JRFT is an annual test. It's the bit that says: "This annual test"
Mmmm, at the risk of being a pedant, can you point out the bit where it says "This annual test".

Yes, certainly:
"The standard identified for recruits was extended to serving officers in 2014 following the endorsement of the Winsor Review (Part II) recommendations. This annual test..."

Ahh yes, fairy nuff. But to continue my pedantry, would you agree it's hardly an arduous test, and not all police officers have to do it.

Well, all front line officers have to do it which is what really counts. And no, it's not particularly arduous, but then again they've raised the retirement age to 60 so they can't have it both ways: You can't expect police officers to work into old age and remain super fit.
That's the reason cops used to retire at 55.

My father was out on his daily run when he heard a shout. Two "overweight" policemen were chasing a youth ... who was "getting away from them". As the lad ran past him my father broke into a sprint and grabbed him. The youth was so surprised he didn't resist. The police were very grateful for his help. My father was 85 and fitter than most men half his age.
How athletes have improved:
1952 male marathon world record 2:20:42 Current female world record: 2:14:04
This means that if the current female world record holder were to run against the 1952 male world record holder she would beat him by over half a mile.
The winning time in the first (1896) Olympic marathon was slower than the current world record for a 70 year old.

I remember ( a long time ago) when international athletics was called ‘ our black peoples against your people ‘ by some wags . Weve come a long way since then but International women’s athletics may soon be called ‘ our transwomen against your transwomen ‘ by some new wags .

You are blaming people who are duty bound to follow their orders. Nope, they're duty bound to prevent & detect crime and preserve the peace. Which is not at all the same thing. Who tells them to "prevent & detect crime and preserve the peace"?

Apologies for comming in late on this one. Can you elaborate on the annual fitness tests police have to pass?.. Apparentlly the wankers are required to be able to write their own name and manage to make a cup of tea. ****

"I do solemnly and sincerely declare and affirm that I will well and truly serve the King in the office of constable, with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people; and that I will to the best of my power; cause the peace to be kept and preserved and prevent all offences against people and property; and that while I continue to hold the said office I will, to the best of my skill and knowledge, discharge all the duties thereof faithfully and according to law."
