Exactly the 40's and 50;s were very difficult times , 60's slightly better back then if out of work you had to go to the Labour Exchange ( Dole Office) within a few weeks if you had not taken any of the Jobs offered to you that was it Dole stopped When hungry and can't feed yourself your kids or pay the rent you found work any work, Different times, little automation and no computers so many more roles to be filled. True but even back then many never did an honest days work, many factories were overmanned which put productions costs up which meant we struggled to compete with cheaper imports from overseas, those that did not move with the times and put in place better more efficient machinery went to the wall.

I was looking at fb yesterday and someone loaded a video from 1986 showing the high street and the traffic and the cars were about 90% British, Fords, Hillmans, Vauxhall, Rovers, Jaguars, Metros etc. So surely the decline was somewhat later at least for manufacturing and for me that was the 70s and of course we had the oil crisis in 73.

When we were kids a neighbour had a Matchless, we used to sit on a wall and chat to him as he polished it, he assured us that Jap bikes were crap and would never catch on.

And how wrong he was, the first Jap bike I saw was a 200C twin with electric start quick nimble and light and reliable

This whole debate isn't about anything that affects my daily life. I've probably met plenty of people socially and at work whose sexual and gender differences are different from the accepted norm, and I may or may not have realised. But apart from perhaps being entertained by those who make the most of their difference on stage, I can't say the topic has really impacted me. What is it that I'm not understanding about why this is taking up so much of our politicians' time...? I have come to realise that i have worked with, eaten with, frequently drunk with, been taught by, worked for and had working for me a whole range of individuals whose customs and practices in their social lives mean they pretty much are going to be the end of their particular branch of the gene pool And looking back from the last such interaction at 9am this morning to the first which with hindsight was probably a neighbour i first said hello to sixty four years ago age three but didn’t twig they were transvestite until i was 13 fifty four years ago … i too can’tvsay i’ve given a flying one What HAS changed is i am no longer allowed to express my opinion openly whether good or evil. I suspect the letter i sent to the echo in support of our physiology lecturer who donned wig and tweeds at the weekend and called himself Mandy would be received far less positively today as many would just think me another triggered snowflake. And i suspect that if the best VMware hardware virtualiser I’ve ever worked with, an outrageously camp homosexual, living in sin with his ‘husband’ (civil partnerships NOT being a thing back then) were today to openly say as he did ten years ago that the drunker he got, the more attractive the drag queens on stage in the gay bar were looking, and if i were to reply as i did ‘well every bloke here gay and straight alike will tell you that’s how booze works’ we’d both be in shit with HR if it got out. THAT is what’s changed. aand generalky deoended on

"Quite clearly a women can have a penis"! LOL. After the interview he apologised for his white privilage then visited a unicorn sanctuary where he tearfully raised a rainbow flag, while on bended knee. What an utter embarrassment. Yes indeed kiddies, vote LibDem, Ha... Quite clearly women can have a penis but a software system can never be wrong, did Vennells tell him women can have a penis? I do some work still with people with mental health probs and I had an email from someone, as she was called Elsie Bloggs I assumed she was a woman. Anyway the email finished with the flourish Elsie Bloggs she/her

This whole debate isn't about anything that affects my daily life. I’d like to come back to just this single statement I’d really like to say the same. But take today for example. Like many companies my employer offers a share-save option. I’ve signed up. If in two years time the shares haven’t tanked i’ll make a tidy profit that i will blow on a five star fortnight in Cancun This afternoon the web portal to the company ‘managing’ this deal gave me some grief and asked me to ring the helpline. Turns out i needed to redo the 2FA as i hadn't used the site for a while. all well and good although they could have explained it better on the site. But the phone robot spent a full 45 seconds of my money after it answered my call but beforeut started giving me options lecturing me on how many awards for diversity, inclusivity and gender aware they were in possession of I dont give a fuck They are being paid a shitload to take my money in 36 lumps of £150, squirrel it away for three years and make money from having it, all for £150 they have to add to this contract because HMRC demand it, then exercise my share option and hand me my money plus profits. Less their fees for brokerage of course. If i cared about anything, it would be that these shitbags did tbe job for as little as possible. Which they wont because they just charged me money (ok charged vodafone) to tell me they placed giving their surgically altered 38GG receptionist with a dick between its legs ‘pride’ of place in the workplace above making a profit and reducing their fees And if i used the opportunity to comment on their service to call them woke shitheads who put staff chicks with dicks above client investment performance they’d fucking cancel my contract saying i’m not the sort of customer they want…..

How much would a five star fortnight in Cancun cost - presumably for two. Sounds expensive. How do you squeeze 36 months into two years?

Btw, where is Sir Edward? Has anyone seen him lately, in fact has anyone seen him in the past six months? The LibDems seem to be very conspicuous by their complete absence. I havent seen him in the commons for ages, is he undergoing some sort of surgery?..
