You are reducing the problem. Its a small thing that is within your power. It is something that can be done right now. You don't need anyone else to help you make it happen. It would set a good example for other SME's be part of the solution now rather than part of the problem. You have no problem paying more tax - why do you have a problem about giving your staff better salaries bringing them a bit closer to your earnings. How can improving wage disparity be important to you if you aren't even willing to do something about wage disparity within your own business? I'll forgive your ignorance of business, its very common. Let me explain, I employ about 100 people, if I gave them your proposed pay rise it would cost in excess of £2.5m and bankrupt the company and they would have no jobs. Against this I am discussing me paying an extra 10 to 15k a year in tax along with everyone else on over 100k a year. Hmmm.
You employ 'about' 100 people. In my world where i was in business myself before Tony Blair destroyed it by removing my right to have my clients directly sponsor my security clearance, thinking he could thereby force me to sell my body to one of the scumspawn body shops like sunak's other half evades a quarter of a billion inheritance tax from, paying 100 people £30 an hour for 40 hours a week for 52 weeks of the year costs 6.2 million plus whatever the fuck employer's NI is these days 14% ? so 7 million
By your calculation to increase salaries to this level would cost 2.5 million so you are already handing them £40k each. Well done you. Why are they not paying it out to the poor drug runners in your part of town ? Or maybe they are ?

TBH John. I didn't spend time doing an accurate calculation as I was making a point, not a business plan. My staff earn everything from a couple of hundred pounds a month for a Saturday student guide, through to 56k for a CEO and every variable in between.

What can I say? If you get the right judge they'll not only let you stay in the country, they'll praise you for being "Industrious".
