Vigilantism is meating out punishment. Not moving a criminal out of the way.

He was actually doing the work of the police, and I hope he sends the Met a bill for his services. So, you've changed your mind and realised that it's not "self defence". anyone can make a citizens arrest, the police can use reasonable force, and when a member of the public has to assume the role of the police then he was defending his lawful right to go about his business without being unlawfully stopped from doing so.

But you do have the right to use reasonable force to prevent an offence.
That's what he was doing, whether the police like it or not.
But not vigilante. We know rich Americans are donating hundreds of thousands of US dollars to Stop Oil activists, while the police assist Stop Oil to prevent the working man going about their business. If anyone attempts to move them they'll be arrested.
What other alternative is there?

But not vigilante. so now you are saying this victim was purposely there to attack these protesters?, that's what 'vigilante's' do.
He was 'innocently' caught up in a criminal activity, and on the spare of the moment responded accordingly, no vigilante about it.

like I say, I'm not condoning the protest, but I also can't condone the public taking action on their own either.

Should have turned up with diesel powered Transit vans, or preferably something even bigger, chucked the lot of them in the back, and driven them the long way round to the Police Station, going through one of Khan's ULEZ's, for processing of their arrest.
Then put them on trial for Public Nuisance and give them 12 months each.

You saying that there is no such thing as a reactive vigilante moment?

Their only objective is to cause disruption and get on the TV, which results in them getting more money from foreign sponsors.
If this was a planned and approved protest (with diversion routes to minimise disruption) by those Labour consider undesirable they'd have glass bottles thrown at them.

So it's OK to assault someone if you don't like what they are doing? I can't believe that people have just written that on a political forum. Assault! Do you really think the left wing antisocial moron was 'assaulted'? It's certainly not what any sensible person would describe as assault. However, the left wing woke police are as ever to blame. It's against the law to block the public highway and to stop people going about their lawful business. It should not be unduly difficult for any court to come to the conclusion that the police are incompetent and should be sacked.
