To be clear, I'm not defending the just stop oil protesters, but you also can't go round assaulting them either.

He was unlawfully stopped from going about his business, and he was removing those obstacle's, the fact the plod were aiding and abetting people in criminal activity I think the victim should take this up with his solicitor.

I agree with your first part of the sentence, but that is not the definition of "defending yourself" is it?

Stop Oil is just making it harder for the working man to go about their business in a world where the cost of driving is climbing so high that the roads will eventually only be used by the rich. It's then the police may take some action against them.

Ring the police? ... they were already there aiding and abetting the law breakers, so the victim had to defend himself, and he is quite within his rights to do so.

I agree that he was frustrated, but in spite of your declaration, he was not "defending himself", and you know it. He was not in fear of injury or death and you aren't that stupid. Just because you get angry does not justify aggression.

Just because you get angry does not justify aggression. Why is there so many people like you and Red Rum who want to defend these people? Why were the police escorting people in a way that posed a problem for those going about their lawful business? That's why this thread is entitled FFS.

That's what he was doing, whether the police like it or not.

He was actually doing the work of the police, and I hope he sends the Met a bill for his services.
