Was that not a coalition? I suppose if you initiate PFI schemes and boast about how many hospitals have been built then it seems churlish to point out that someone else has to pick up the tab further down the line. Blair did not initiate PFI, Major did, get the facts straight. Blair should have put an end to it but he did not. Having said that the NHS was in a better position than when the Tories came into power. Work it out Sherlock, when the Tories came in to power Blair's fuck up of the NHS was only just filtering through, but Blair already knew he'd tied the hands of successive governments, he didn't need a crystal ball to know that Labour was NOT going to win 2010 GE, so Blair didn't give a fuck about his long lasting legacy.
The Tories can't undo his fuck-up, that's why your GP service and the NHS is now on its knees .............. Cheers Blair... hope you are enjoying your private health care.

The NHS was in a lot better condition when the Tories came into power, they immediately cut funding. Failure..
What did Blair do to the NHS?
He set up primary care groups, remade them into primary care trusts, and then merged them again into half the number. Demolished regional health authorities were resurrected as 28 strategic health authorities and then merged again back into the original 10 regions.
Which party first Privatised the NHS?
Opposition to what was claimed to be a Conservative intention to privatise the NHS became a major feature of Labour's election campaigns. Labour came to power in 1997 with the promise to remove the "internal market" and abolish fundholding.
GPs couldn't believe their luck, they pinched themselves to make sure it was real.
Errm, was not the NHS reorganised by the Tories after this? Selective memory...

immigration up. ... I have probably missed a load off. Common denominator? Your list neglects to mention the most obvious and important factor which has negatively affected the points you raise, namely immigration illegal or otherwise. Nothing in this countries long history has had such a long term adverse effect on this country. The continued flood of immigrants from the EU started under Blair and continues to this day. Thanks to the EU and pro EU politicians millions of illegals/immigrants have entered this country in recent years, this was always going to have detrimental effect on the points you raise. You ask for the common denominator, thats easy. The reason the points you raise are serious concerns across Europe, is the EU's insane plan of forced mass immigration.

The seeds for the current GP crisis (The Press, September 29) were sown in 2004 when Tony Blair totally gave in to the doctors' unions and agreed new contracts that gave them a 60 per cent salary increase - giving the vast majority a salary above £100,000.
"'Gloating' GPs 'delighted' with lucrative pay deal
Family doctors negotiating last year's pay contract were stunned to be offered such a lucrative deal, it has been revealed.
GP leaders could not believe their luck when ministers told them they would be able to opt out of working evenings and weekends.

Blair did not initiate PFI, Major did And Blair expanded the use of it. Did he abolish it? NO. Anything you lefties want nationalising that he actually nationalised? NOT ONE THING. Did he build council houses? NO. Did he do anything for the homeless? Did he fuck. All he did was sign more powers over to the EU and cause more resentment towards it instead of trying to push for a transfer of power from the Commission either back to member states or to the Parliament, which at least voters can hold to account.

Someone else used that excuse it really is wearing thin. The point is the Tories have had 13 years, note the title of the thread, to put it right but they have only served to make it worse. There are no excuses left the Tories are shite.

Millions do not come across the channel and other countries do not need to detain those that do. Are you related to Braverman?

So, what have the Tories achieved in 13 years then? If you're not going with the OP list, my guess is "nothing". 😂

I have already said that Blair was a 'continuity' PM. He did build social housing, you lie. He may have made more rules with the EU but that is what cooperation is about.

Watch my lips..
How can the Tories undo a act of Parliament that Blair had made air tight>?
It doesn't matter if the Tories are in power for 113 years, Blair made it so successive governments (including his own) could not get out of them, without a legal battle, which they would lose anyway.
Stop asking the same question over and over again, because you can't grasp or understand the response.

Events of the last 16 years. 2007, financial crash government bail out of banks, national debt surged. 2010 Coalition Government entered office with national debt at 74.6% of GDP. By 2012 Coalition Government was spending £43bn a year, just on trying to service the debt. 2014 Ukraine under attack. Crimea stolen. War in Donbas starts. Food supplies in Europe start to be affected. 2015 Labour refuse to hold referendum on EU membership and it sinks them. 2016 things start changing for the better. UK voted for independence from EU. 2017 first budget surplus in years.
2020 UK left EU, just before global pandemic hit. LOCKDOWNS. FURLOUGH PAYMENTS.
National debt soared.
2022 War in Ukraine. Heavy sanctions against Russia. Fuel costs impacted.
European food supplies reduced due to production in the very agricultural country being disrupted.
High inflation as a legacy of Covid debts and war problems hit hard around the world.

The UK birth rate continues to fall, the UK population continues to rise, go figure. This is causing society to fragmentate, communities to become isolated, and creates a lack of trust. You as a devout lefty will of course rubbish this, to be expected.

He did build social housing, you lie. I said COUNCIL HOUSING. READ WILL YOU? A mere 0.3% of housing built during the 13 years of Blair / Brown Labour rule was council housing, a pathetic amount. As far as I see it, the number is so small that effectively he did not build council housing. Nor did Brown.
