If you're going to call someone stupid, at least spell it right. If calling out typos is all you have left, that really is pathetic. lol

Citizenship is not just the right to vote. It's the right to consular protection. It's the right to never have to pay for another visa, in other words, permanent right of residency. Visas cost hundreds of pounds. Some visas cost over Β£1400. This is a one off payment offering permanent rights. It includes the right to vote and shouldn't. The right to vote should never come with a price tag

They weren't born here, they have the right to vote in the country of their birth.
Citizenship means this country becomes as if it were their birth country, affording FULL rights INCLUDING voting rights.
Visas do not afford such rights.

He thinks repeating such idiotic inanities like a 6 year old when his intellect does not extend to any more intelligent response, serves some kind of clever purpose. When in fact it shows him up to be just a bit thick and childish. You and see2 must have been separated at birth lπ If you think he and I agree on everything you are even less observant and even more stupid than I already thought you were. He and I profoundly disagree on most things. But I respect his intelligence far more than I have ever been given reason to respect yours.

Voting rights should not come with a price tag. If citizenship comes with a price tag fair enough but that means the right to vote should not be dependent upon it but be determined by length of residency. Anything else amounts to the ability to buy a vote if you can afford it which is profoundly undemocratic. You are stating what the status quo is which I am well aware of. I am telling you what's wrong with it. Merely describing the current situation is not a defence of it.

Srb, when someone was born in a different country to ours, they have a different government to ours.
They have representation in their homeland. They are not without a vote unless their homeland is not a democracy.
William Shatner, the Canadian actor from Star Trek, is not a US citizen. He cannot vote in US elections. He is represented in Canada by Justin Trudeau's government and has never sought to change the situation.
You are making a fuss over nothing.
In order to live and work here, people have to qualify for a visa. That means they have better financial means than some people born here.
Β£1400 is nothing to someone who can afford it. To qualify for a visa you have to be able to afford it.

How the right wing press tell lies and twist the truth --------------------------------------------------------------
Last weekend Keir Starmer stated that the Labour Party would CONSIDER proposals to give voting rights to EU citizens who have settled status in the UK, and to extend voting rights to 16 and 17 year olds.
This however is what The Daily Telegraph actually printed > "Keir Starmer to give millions of EU nationals the vote"
This is what The Daily Express printed yesterday > "Starmer backs down on voting rights of EU citizens in yet another flip-flop"
At no time ever, did Keir Starmer say that Labour will give voting rights to settled EU citizens, but what he did say is that (1) Labour would LOOK AT PROPOSALS, and also (2) CONSIDER PROPOSALS.
Here is some accurate reporting, without slant, without bias, without comment from the BBC (word for word) "Labour is considering extending voting rights to some EU citizens living in the UK"
"But Labour said no final policy decisions had been made."
The right wing press then went on to state that such a move would be to prepare the ground for another Brexit referendum ( 100% Speculation ) - nothing but a theory, and without any basis what so ever.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Keir Starmer stated yet again, that he would look at improving trade ties with the EU, but that we would not be going back into the EU. He made this statement against a backdrop of difficult trading conditions for British car manufacturing.

To qualify for a visa you have to be able to afford it. If they are no longer living in the country they were born it, it is a matter for that country whether or not it still lets them vote there. Voting here though should never be something that comes with a price which is why eligibility to vote should be determined by length of residency here and not by something that costs Β£1400. If you cannot understand that, explain why the right to vote should be determined by how easily you can afford to shell out a large sum of money. Explain what is democratic about that.

You have your opinion and the world has convention.
The convention is, if you move to another country and want citizenship there, you pay for it.
