The moral of the story is when keir starmer tells the english public new labour wont rejoin the EU , take his lies with a pinch of salt.
and look up the word 'shouldn't' That's a bit rich coming from someone who is renowned for their own pedantism... |

Its merely a matter of pure circumstance and has nothing to do with Labour not been a party of equality THe Labour Party introduced the very first Race Relations Act in 1965, 51% of all Labour MPs are currently female, compared to only 24% of Conservative MPs. But the fact is, enforced equality and diversity, all female shortlists, all black shortlists, are a race to the bottom. Enforced equality and diversity ensures the most suitable candidates are often overlooked, particularly if they happen to be white English heterosexual men. |

Can't say I am a fan of all women shortlists. They wouldn't be allowed in normal recruitment. Not aware that all black shortlists is or ever has been a thing??

Legislating to make it an offence in law to discriminate, does not alter people's mindsets does it, you can never legislate to change peoples minds, or alter their prejudices.

That sounds like an excellent plan. |

I know they talk about it but does Labour actually believe it?. After Johnsons withdrawal the Tories will now have delivered 3 women PM's, a Jewish PM and now a Hindu. Meanwhile Labour are yet to elect a woman to lead them even in opposition. So from tomorrow we will have a middle aged, middle class, millionaire white guy in charge of the Labour Party and a middle aged, middle class, millionaire asian guy, who replaced a woman, in charge of the Tory Party. And to think that Labour went through all the angst of women only shortlists..which plainly didnt work. What will it need for Labour to embrace equality/ Isn't there something about electing the best person for the job? Clearly the Conservatives haven't been taking reality seriously of late. LOL - this from a Party that introduced all women shortlists..  |
