Well, what has happened in China in the last ten years that merits inclusion in the list. Remembered we are looking for inventions and discoveries that 'shaped the modern world'. Go for it. Well basically the last ten years is a new phase in the development of China. Very roughly speaking, you can think of it as before then it was mostly commissions from Western manufacturers to subcontract the manufacturing with their designs, to one of building up the research in fundamental science. You can see this in the solar panel industry and the EV battery technology where they are now world leaders. Trivial these inventions are not. The solar power and battery storage markets are mega. Contrast and compare to BrtiishVolt and you will see the difference. Britishvolt is an interesting case study of our industrial problems if you care to do the research.

So what specifically is China doing right now since you seem to be their Ambassador ? Building and designing the Long March 9 and 10.
If you stopped taking after the stupid wallies who think the rest or the world live in the jungle without running water, you might find it interesting.
Is DEVELOPING this. Around 2040 has been one estimate and still speculation. And is it a new invention rather than a development? And please desist the rude and offensive remarks about me and others.

Nothing is ever good enough for you. The fact is they are busy designing, building and inventing stuff all the time. Absolutely nothing about China's achievements ever appears in the fascist British press. Don't blame me for what you don't read. 95% of this forum is devoted to childish personal issues about what rights so and so has and what so and so did which is so bad. We are as a nation entering a degenerative phase. China is going the other way. Much of their news reports is about achievement. The BBC can have ten news items in a report and the only one which is positive is the fucking football results where some team beat some other team in a stupid game of kicking a ball around a field. Oh and as for my local press, the only positive reports are when the fascist dictatorship award someone for something and gives them a plastic trophy.

What you posted in that link is, at least, subjective. I, at least, try keep things factual. Go to your beloved China and see what is like with your eyes.

No proposals for Chinese inventions and discoveries then, even in the last ten years.
The examples you provided (solar panels and vehicle batteries) have more to do with refinements in production engineering than invention or discovery. Making things cheaper and smaller has long been an Asian focus so what you describe is the Chinese getting closer to their neighbours in developing such skills. Nothing at all wrong with that, but hardly world-changing is it?

I don't know Baron.
You seem particularly obsessed with China (which is fine), but for a nation that makes up ~20% of the world's population, for them to be as great as you keep wanting to tell us, you'd expect they'd be accomplishing ~20% of the worlds technological breakthroughs, invention, and innovation.
The evidence doesn't seem to support it.
You've been asked to provide some groundbreaking and world-changing inventions China has been responsible for in modern history and I think the best you've come up with, is a new solar telescope, which let's face it, isn't likely to revolutionize much of anything, since we've had solar telescopes for hundreds of years?
And also, if you're going to be academically honest, as someone who is pushing and wanting to tell us how great China is, it's on YOU to tell us what they're doing which is so awesome. It's not on other posters to go and do the research, so don't get mad at them, when they ask you for some examples and you fall short of a fair benchmark.
I'm not anti-China as other posters might be btw, but I am a bit of a realist, and I just don't see what China is offering the world right now in the way of innovation/technology. At least compared to the USA and the West, which have basically led the world in this area for well over a hundred years.

Nothing at all wrong with that, but hardly world-changing is it? I don't think you quite grasp the complexity of modern technology, as per the two examples I gave you. There have been many developments in solar panel technology. It's all physics and quantum mechanics. The price has plummeted in the last ten years thanks to China. If we relied on the technology coming out of Britain we would get nowhere with our carbon zero programme. China was the first country to get a working EPR reactor together, known as the third generation. This is what they were working on at Hinckley Point.

I started with an example but got throw-away remarks which showed a complete lack of understanding. To be frank with you , I do not know all the technologies China has invented in the last ten years. I see new ones almost daily. Some of it is kept secret, especially manufacturing processes. Each factory has its tricks and keeps cameras out of the factory. This is because competition is fierce.
Anyway, since you asked, Huawei have patented the graphene transistor. These things use carbon nanotubes which give a 1000x performance boost if one were to make a processor out of it. They will run cool because the conductors made out of nanotubes are I believe about 100x less resistance. You get some weird physics when electrons glide along a 2D regular lattice.

Today we see it is a spaceport they are putting together. You know our venture into space went bust after it blew up 14 satellites, don't you? www.youtube.com/watch?v=02WvKUolktY
