I donβt see you as a nice clergyman Dorset. Not like a male version of the vicar of dibley. I suspect you would be the type who claps when they fire up the faggots under a heretic or the scrawny one in the Devils ..even the mother superior π Try to see your ordeal on this thread as your personal trial in the wilderness, Benny. Iβm just laughing at the clown Darby.π

So, you're saying there are still people living in workhouses and Victorian street urchins are still roaming the streets, are you, Doc. Were you sent up a chimney as a child? You really don't see that there has been a socialist trend since Marx's day, do you? Maybe, like Benny, you only believe in things that are invisible. Not socialism dalek. Who groomed you to believe any rise in living conditions equals socialism ? Send Benny a sign, oh Lord!

Capitalism has squashed socialism in countries across the globe - hardly anyone believes in it now, not even the Labour Party. You are confused and as has been pointed out (several times) already - improvements in employments T&C's do not have anything to do with Socialism.

Do you only believe in the invisible, too?

I would think that the same would apply to Capitalism but somehow you wish it to have started when you said it did. Okay, so tell us where Marxism existed, then. I'd be really interested to hear about this advanced industrial economy that practised populist democracy. I don't recall anyone mentioning it at school. So let us get this straight it is not Marxism unless it actually is Marxism. People saying they are Marxist or others saying they are Marxist does not fit the bill. Fair enough. All I have said is that the same definition should apply to Capitalism and you saying something is a Capitalist society does not mean it is most especially if competition is suppressed and that is the tale for most 'Capitalist' societies by one means or another.

Do you only believe in the invisible, too? Well the first work pensions were introduced in the 1600's before Capitalism or Socialism even took off. But given your lack of knowledge about things I suppose we shouldnt be surprised that you didnt know or understand.

Yep. Are you a believer too, Sandy? A believer? I am just trying to get a grip on what is being discussed and it seems as though neither Marxism or Capitalism has ever existed in the forms defined. What is clear is that both Marx and Capitalism have inspired societies to seek to be either one with varying degrees of success. Marx inspired societies tend to have a hatred for some elements in society and the same is true of Capitalism. The difference being I believe that Capitalist inspired societies, as sometimes manifested, will let people die through lack of care, Marxist inspired societies tend to actively seek out people to kill

What percentage of the population received a pension in the 1600s, Doc? Isn't it the case that the old age pension only came into existence for most people in the 20th Century, more than 120 years after the inception of capitalism? Another wonderful example of capitalism becoming progressively more socialist.

It seems a lot of those opposed to the Left take issue with their atheism. It's a relevant question.

Tell us about Jesus' nuclear family, Benny. This is why you are not on ignore. So I can see how toxic you are.
